Drove one today
Drove my '97 Z28 to the dealer today and they let me drive their 1lt auto.
They were nice enpogh to let me puch it a couple of times. It is a very snappy V6 however at 304 hp vs the 285HP in my Z28 would be no contest. The '97 LT1 V8 is quicker so I guess HP is not everything. I would love to try an SS. IT was a nice ride but I'm still not Ga Ga over it for the price. |

It's only 20 horses, your old car is a bit lighter, and I think it's gearing is better for acceleration. It's not cheap but it's going to be rather impossible to find anything similiar at the same MSRP, actual selling prices can change things a bit while the car is still so new though!

I believe that both v6 and v8 are to expensive. I always thought the Camaro was an ''average joe's'' sports car, but now you have to be loaded, have shared income or live at home with mom(with a good job still).
The v6 is still one of the quickest v6 sports cars out. And the Ss will be a beast, especially with mods. The fact that you're comparing a v6 to your 4th gen Z28 is a good sign that the 5th gen is doing something right. I want the SS but I don't think a $600+ a month car payent is practical.

It still is an average joe's sports car. The question is how much you want to load it out.

When you punched it in the 1LT, what was it in? Drive, Sport, or were you using the paddles?

They are bringing the camaro to corvette price levels, and raising the corvette to porsche price levels. It's starting to get a little ridiculous. |

The Camaro is on the same page as the Corvette was just a few years ago in terms of power and all. The Corvette is pretty damn close to "supercar" power and performance now. So if you ask me... it kinda makes sense. Sucks for those with a budget.... but i understand it. |

The car probably was not broken in.
I am not sure it would be no contest. I bet it would be a drivers race. |

I think the Camaro is expensive, but I ordered it anyway. But if you are comparing to other cars, challenger 45,000 with same hp, to get a mustang with same hp you are talking 50,000+.

Expensive????? For such a car it's a bargain! It's got looks AND performance, and there's not a dog in the bunch! We're lucky GM priced it where it is! When it was in development most of us were guessing mid 40s to high 50s. What a car!
