What if all orders are put in with priority 1 - Camaro5 Chevy Camaro Forum / Camaro ZL1, SS and V6 Forums

What happens if a dealer puts all his pre-orders in with a priority of "1"? How would the cars be prioritized to be ordered and/or built?

First in first out and the only stopper would be a constraint. In that case, the first in, if it had a constraint would be skipped and the next one would go in.

Then in that case how does the system know what car should be built first? So if a dealer puts in 10 sold orders all at a priority of 1 which is built first? Is it the order they are entered or some other way?

Mine was put in as priority 2, but yet I am farther along than most of the other orders? This whole pre-order thing has been a cluster-f***.

Priority #2 = Dealership car to make $$$
Priority #3 = 'pre-order' enthusiasts

I was the first guy in the place to order a Camaro and do you think I was priority #1 - NOPE! I checked a few months later and they had me in the system at Priority #2. I was like WTF! when I saw it on the workbench printout.

For practical purposes, there isn't a whole lot you can do about it. If you raise a stink they can put you at priority #1 then they can change your priority back with a keystroke after you walk out the door.

Just ordered my Camaro 04/27/09 and it was put into the system. My workbench sheet says Preliminary order, priority #1 and sold. I was told I wont get my car until Sept. at the earliest.

I wonder if he sold the car to you and did not have a allocation for it... I ordered ours a day later 4/28 and its already at code 3000.

its all up to your dealer .everybody or most everybody was priority one at least at my dealer .on a thursday the dealer gets an allocation .and if you are number 1 at his dealership you will get that allocation .if you want a v8 and all they have is a v6 you become number 2 and so on .i was number 2 .number one lost his job and i became number one .also i ordered cgm ,so my dealer gave me the choice change my order or become number 2 again becauce cgm was on constraint .so i changed my color to aqua blue and im sitting at 4b00

I don't know but I do know the cars ahead of me are SS's. Maybe he was just telling me that so I wouldn't bug him which I wasn't planning on doing anyway. It will get here when it's ready.....not that I don't want it already but I understand there are people ahead of me. I can't wait. I will check with the dealer in a few weeks after I get back from Hawaii. I will be there for 3 weeks and then when i get back I will check on my car.
