In case you doubt catch cans..
I installed the Rx on my '14 LS3 at 50 miles. I now have 5400 and just drained it for the second time. That is 7 ounces of GUNK that did not go into my intake tract. While the Rx holds 12 oz, they recommend emptying it at no more than 6 ozs to maintain max efficiency, so that's 3-4,000 mike intervals for me. Not all catch cans are created equal. Rx works well.

I've got my Elite Engineering can sitting on my desk waiting to install it. I never put one on my 2012 SS but I'm not going without one this time around.

It's appalling to me that GM would design it this way. What are they thinking?

Anybody who still doubts catch cans, after all of the evidence that has been brought to the table over the course of the last two years alone, is an idiot plain and simple.

I put an elite catch can on my 2010 L99 and while I did not have much, I would say on average 1 to 1.5 oz every 3000 miles. When I put on my supercharger, I noticed that there was a slight oily film inside the hose on the downside of my catch can which told me there was still some slight amount of vapor still getting by.
Installed a second Elite in-line behind the first and now when I check the hose going into the Maggie, its dry and clean!!! Every 3000 miles, the first can will still have around 1.5 oz, the second less then .5 oz but to me its worth keeping it out of the supercharged engine. Some have told me its a waste of money to have a second can but I have talked with guys that have more models and they have all said that with one can, there is often a slight film of oil in the hose going into the intake. There is not with a second can so to me its well worth it.

Upper intake and induction cleaning is great business imho.
Regarding bad design, the LS3 valley cover design seems to be hit and miss. Some dudes are only reporting an ounce of oil collection every oil change, while others are reporting a full ounce, after only 2 weeks, and a few hundred miles of hard driving. I'm one of those with the faulty valley cover design. Ironically, my TB is cleaner (actually it's SPOTLESS!) than most on here with a tight valley cover, and why? Because I added a catch can, both dirty and clean side, right after I bought my car. |

For you guys in doubt, pictures don't lie.
Im always switching throttle bodies on my car so I never noticed much oil build up on the back of my throttle body. I pulled my intake to install a ported LS3 manifold. When I tilted my manifold downward, a bunch of oil leaked out. My car is a 2010 L99 with 22000 miles on it. I've had a catch can on the shelf for the car, but just never installed it. Needless to say, Ill have to throw it on. |

I learned about the catch cans from this C5forum and had an Apex catch can on at 18 miles. I appreciate all the info some of you motor-heads share. It really makes the decision making process easy when pics are shown.
If can figure out how to post a pic of our car, I'll show the custom graphic we decided on.... it really came out lookin like a million bucks!!!! |
