Heads and Cam Package 480-500RWHP

I'm in the desert right now and I'm just wanting to check and see who all has done a head/cam swap on there camaro and how happy they are with it? I've been talking with Texas speed and pretty much decided on the Stage 2 heads and the 231/236 cam for when I get home and have all the extra money to spend. I was just wondering how many other people have gone this route? Are there any other companies that I should look into as well before I make my decision and spend this money?

Thanks in advance,

Brandon

Brandon, I am also going with the 231/236 kit. The other cam I was looking at was the LG G6X3. I felt it was too big for me right now without gears. I also looked at heads but I do not think they are cost effective for the HP gains (20+RWHP). I think you would be better off with the cam and a 100 shot nitrous or cam and gears. You would perform better with either compared to heads. Thats the route I will eventually take.

We've seen 80+ hp with a small cam and headers and tune so.....

But I just had a customer with that 6x cam and he didn't like it at all. We speced him a little something different. Its close to the 231/236 but not the same. We use different lobes and the duration and split are different.
We offer a cam and head package as well so don't count us out either. We have some new head technology coming out that will floor the market for a bit.. (until it gets copied)

Smoky 10 - From the cam specs you are a Man 6 car. In DFW area with heads/cam, headers, exhaust, and intake you will be close to 460 to 470 rwhp depending on your fuel (91 or 93) and tune. Good luck in the desert.

Yay deployment money. Texas speed, trick flow, and mast Motorsports either have or will soon have new aftermarket cylinder head castings. Better flowing with a steeper valve angle (allows more compression).

How much for avg cost of heads and labor to replace? I think you can get a better HP for the dollar then heads.

I will be installing the heads and cam. So the cost of install is not a worry, but I will still have to get it tuned. But the price of heads range from 2,100-3000, from what I've seen.

Ahh, doing your own work makes it more effective. From heads though, havent seen anything really over 30rwhp. 2000+ for 30RWHP pretty expensive. Thats why I was saying gears or nitrous would give better performance for the money.

Not really a fan of nitrous at all. But I have been looking into gears anyway. Only problem is there isn't anyone in my area that is reputable with gears for our cars.

No worries, the bombs are hitting on the other side of base so I'm good for the time being. Where are you at? What branch are you? Also, I'm hijacking my own thread, but how do you feel about your intake?

Don't have an intake yet. Been researching and asking questions for the best bang for the buck. I have luxury compared to you. I'm in Italy right now, in the navy. Sometime might get to Africom for a bit.
