oil consumption

My car is using about a quart every 2000 miles . Has anyone else seen this?

None noticeable other than the catch can. How many miles are on it total?

Drive it like you stole it for about 2,000 more miles and see if it changes. Hear me out:

Possible outcomes:
1) There's something wrong and it grenades - new engine from GM under warranty (make the service department aware of the consumption, obviously to start the paper trail)
2) It just needs to be smacked around a little bit to wear in more – oil consumption reduces and you smile a whole lot; monitor oil consumption in the future to see if it levelizes
3) Oil consumption remains static – will help diagnose problem via steady consumption and different driving style
4) Oil consumption increases – will help diagnose problem via increased consumption with more aggressive driving style
5) Problem reveals itself during test, and is fixed under warranty

Anyone think of anything else?

Thanks I've checked what I can and the only thing I've found that concerns me is an oily residue on the exhaust tips , on both sides . Is the PCV valve a possible culprit ?

That's seems a bit excessive for only 2k miles. I would take it in and have it looked at if you haven't touched your engine and it is still under warranty.

And most of the time they won't give you a brand new engine if yours blows up. I wouldn't want them to do a complete engine swap with an overhauls engine. No way.

At that many miles consumption should start to level off. It will get worde or it won't. If it doesn't you should be ok. If it does then there is a problem. I would get it looked at.

it sound to me like half of the oil loss is probably blow-by oil, and the other half is normal break-in loss. The catch can in my car catches about a 1/4 of a quart of oil every 3000 miles. I personally feel that is normal.
