Knoxville Area Camaro Club Benefit Run
This letter sent to me as a memeber of Vietnam Veterans of America run starting at Food City Asheville Hwy ending at Smokey Mountain Harley Davidson Maryville 100 mile run. Corvette and Mustang Clubs attending...how about some support from the Camaro Clubs?
American Legion Post 2 (Knoxville) would like to extend an invitation to your group to join us for a memorial ride on June 28th. Attached is the flier for our event. The ride is in memory of Jerry Taylor, Jerry was a Post 2 member, member of the Patriot Guard Riders, and a Navy Veteran who served in Vietnam. Jerry never met a stranger and was well known in the motorcycle community. He loved God, served Jesus, had a passion for youth, and helping others. He is greatly missed by all who knew him. This year his wife, Beth, wanted to honor Jerry and help support the Post 2 Building Fund by having a memorial benefit ride. Post 2 of the American Legion is one of the oldest chartered posts in the nation. We were founded in 1919! The building we are currently in is an old school building that was given to us as part of a land exchange with Knox County many years ago....while a playground for children has been long gone, a playground for termites continued to thrive. This brings us to a place where we have no choice but to tear down our current building and construct a new one. This is one of many events that will be held to raise funds to reach the goal of building a new post while remaining debt free....but most of all, to build a new post that will continue to be a place of service for the Knox county community for years to come. The Knoxville Post 2 of the American Legion is not like a lot of posts out there. We do not have a bar or canteen. This places a huge limit on our revenue, but we feel it places us in a different category as we stay focused on serving the needs of the veterans of Knox County. Would you please consider asking your club/group to come support this ride? We are going to have a great time and we know you will be blessed if you join us! This event is open to all bikes and autos. We have already received word that a corvette club and a mustang club will be attending. The bikes and cars will leave out at different times depending on the size of the group. Feel free to pass this info on to all groups that you think might want to participate. |
