Calling Phoenix, AZ peeps. Need some help.

Guys, we are looking at several different routes for the Fest cruise.

But, we have run into snags being some routes are too long, some too short, some have road construction issues, county line boundries, etc.

I'm interested in seeing some routes some of ya'll can come up with. We're looking for 35 to 40 miles...no more than 40, though. Time wise, we are looking at an hour drive. We are trying to avoid as many lights and crowded areas as possible. We want the cruise to move along as fast as possible while avoiding as much traffic and residential areas as we can. But, we'd also like to have some scenery. Thoughts?

If any of ya'll want to give it a shot and lay down a few routes, it would be helpful. Our first cruise was VERY memorable...and we'd sure like to have this be a highlight of the weekend.

Thanks!

From Firebird, head West on I-10, then East on the Loop 202. Depending on how long you want the route to be, I would suggest the Santan 202 all the way around til you hit US60 Westbound, then take the US60 West back to I 10 and back to Firebird. No lights at all other than at the traffic interchange/ onramp to I 10 at Firebird, would only need to block that one light to keep the pack together. The Santan 202 should be relatively traffic free on the weekend, particularly around midday. If you want things longer, stay on the loop 202 and take it all the way around to the loop 101, then go South on the 101 back to the 60 or Santan 202.

Either route would be multilane highway with 65MPH speed limits and LEO's that let you cruise 10 over without issue. Traffic would be a bit heavier around typical rush hour times (6-9A, 3-7P), but not nearly as bad on the weekend as during the week. I'm assuming this would be on Sat? If it's going to be during the week, I would do it midday (think noonish) or at night, like 8PM, or else traffic is going to be a pita.

Only issue would be construction, but we can find out about that beforehand from ADOT, should be on their website or posted elsewhere.

Not a local, but I´ve been to Salt River Tubing in Mesa, the road is always empty and the view of the desert is great.

Cant remember the speed limit or how far from chandler it is...

How about this route

Check out the link. It's about a 45 min cruise.

Not a bad idea. I was looking at county lines. Going to make a few calls. We'll get a little mountains here and there, but nothing super spectacular...and that's okay. We have to think about making sure everyone gets to the track in time and isn't out on the road too long.

How's this route look?

I live in Maricopa, keep in mind that the Casa Blanca road will take you from 55 to 25 then back to 55 as you pass through a very small city of Casa blanca without traffic lights. Not much scenery there though lots of dust however, if you get lucky on the 347 you may see some wild horses by the river (now a wash)

I'd mich rather get up into some mountains, but it appears doing anything like that could take more time. Now...if we had two hours, we could get out tothe tortilla flatts....thay would be cool

any other ideas, we would like to hear them.

Tortilla Flats would be an awesome ride, but would take forever with the amount of people wanting to cruise. The switchbacks are awesome, but can't be driven very fast, I tried many times, as many of the switchbacks are blind to the other traffic coming at you. Many boaters take their rides to the lake and you have to deal with a truck, and boat trailer. Now a smaller group who would want to go would not be a problem.

If you want to see excellent mountains then Tortilla Flats would be it. I took my avator pic at the base of Red Mountain.

A better ride is one suggested earlier that you take I-10 to the Loop 202 (San Tan) and go east as it will take you close to the mountains, and some very nice scenery along the way. I would suggest coming back on the Loop 202 (San Tan) via US101 as the US60 can be quite busy on the weekends. Here is a link of the freeway system and I think the I-10 to the 202 (E) to the 101 (S) to the 202 (W), and back to the raceway would be better, faster, and more enjoyable, but that is my hummble opinion.

like this? Seems to be a longer drive. Would probably be nicer, but longer for sure.

Here's an option. Looks like it goes right next to some mountains. The only issue is that there might be some lights on the way back.
