2013 Camaro SS nav system
I see the MyLink system in my 2013 2SS does not have a Nav option. Has the nav system come out yet?

Yes, it's a $750 option. If you did not get the option, you are SOL.

I'm a bit confused also. I have the turn by turn nav via OnStar (which I hate), is that what the option consists of? Or is it a separate maps app.

darn. i would think it would just be a reflash of the radio or something, as if you have onstar nav it must use GPS already... thx for pointing me to 2SSRS's thread

there is a small difference in the bezel of the head unit. On the upper right, it will have NAV (navigation) and right below that, DEST (Destination). I am glad that my car has it, even though most phone these days suffice quite well.
In my opinion, a few good things about it are, you don't have to remove anything when you get out of the car, like with a Garmin, it will reroute if you miss a turn, but, the Onstar will not. If your car has HUD, it will also put your route on there. You can also have Mylink on music, and the volume will lower and a voice will continue to give you directions. Also, if you need to be in a certain lane, the factory navigation will also split the screen in half, with half showing you the overall route, and the right half showing which lane you should be in. For some reason, i can't view the video that NYRfan put up, but if it's the video of a guy in Las Vegas, then, that is almost how it is. |

Maybe I'm old school but I don't care for the look of the mylink system. Any modern smartphone will do what the nav does for a fraction of the cost.

on average people pay 1000-1500 a year for their smart phone if not more. 750 isn't bad and you don't have to worry about battery or taking a call while trying to use your phone nav, or a loss of signal. I like seeing the map while im driving around. also has traffic and weather apps. i say its worth the money easily.
