New member cylinder head help

Hello all. I'm a new guy to this fourm, but have heard nothing but great things. I need a little help. I am building a 416 ls3 stroker for my 68 firebird. I'm building from a bare block so I have no heads. I would like to achieve around 540 N/A. Is this possible? There is a fella selling bare 821 casting heads for 300. Should I purchase those and send them off to Texas speed for porting, prc springs and stainless valves for close to 1500? Or pay 800 more for the trick flow 255? Or what is a better option. I haven't purchased a cam yet, but will probably choose the 235/239 Texas speed cam. Is this a good cam for this size engine? Car will mostly be a Saturday Sunday cruiser and the occasional track once a month. Will spray engine also at the track, with 150 shot wet. Compression is around 11.2 to 1. So far my build consist of.
4" lunanti crank
Lunanti h beam rods.
Wesico Pistons and King xp bearings with arp main studs. I apologize up front if this is to much for a new member to post.

I'd go solid roller cam and aftermarket heads.

Don't use a solid roller unless the car is a dedicated race car. I would recommend going with aftermarket heads. Give either trickflow or mast a call, they can recommend which head will work best with your setup and application. Both of those heads run very well. After you make the decision on which head your going to run, call comp cams with the specs from the head and the engine, including the flow numbers. Make sure you are honest with them about what the car will be used for. They will set you up with a cam built for your application. I hope this helps

GMPP cnc factory ported heads come complete with hollow stem intake valves for around $1300 a pair no core new, that's what I went with for the price because it can not be beat. If your thinking your going to gain so much more with heads your going to spend a way lot more. DOne up with the 235/239 you should kick 500 rwhp on a mustang and about that in torque, now if you want to go into intakes the only deal is FAST with a 102 TB for really whats out there unless your doing a more race car then you could go the long runner tunnelram type high/midrise and they show some number gains yet are not the best down low like a tunnel ram is and are not phenolic resin . The FAST does better on a larger than stock cube size ls3 , or you can go really spendy with small bore ls7 heads and a MSD airforce intake. If your just interested in numbers the money does go way up. Hollow stem intakes are better than the solids on a L99 head and the engines have a higher redline..gotta run.

Thanks for the responses guys. I saw the gmpp heads. I'm leaning towards those or a dart bare head on eBay for 800 I think. I will save up if need be for a better head. As far as intakes go, I will go fast 102 and the tb

Solid roller eliminates any pumping losses of a hydraulic roller setup. It also allows you to run a much more aggressive ramp angle compared to a hydraulic roller. The only downside is checking cold lash periodically and of course, the requesite valvespring swaps periodically. You have to do the valve springs either way, so if you're gonna be under there, may as well make the most power that you can.

I am well aware of the benefits of a solid roller as I build race engines for a living. A solid roller is unnecessary for car that is going to be a cruiser with the occasional track event. A solid roller requires frequent maintance because it is hard on valvetrain components. A hydraulic roller that is designed for the op will perform much better then an oversized solid roller
