At 700 miles we changed the oil to full syn mobil 1 with a ac delco filter, also changed the rear axle fluid to mobil 1 full syn, rear axle fluid was very very black and both fill and drain plug magnets had a ton of metal on them its one of the 1st things I recommend to a new camaro owner cheap and easy to do also

Ather that 1st 700 mile oil change we have been changing oil ever 5k and the oil life monitor it normally at 20% when we are at 5000 miles, cant belive how long the OLM will tell others to go on there oil when ours barely makes 5k but I guess our car sees alittle different use than a typical v6 car on this forum

found out that if you have a v6 automatic you dont need additive. it only goes for the manual v6, just to clarify if someone needs the answer

Because it was just before our 1st autocross event with the car and wanted cleaned oil and axle fluid in the car before we beat on the car for the 1st time

As soon as people switch to like Pennzoil Platinum, the iron count drops a ton. If you really feel the need to use Dexos rated oil (Pennzoil Plat meets the specs they just don't pay GM for the license), I would suggest Quaker stake: ultimate durability. Basically the same as Pennzoil Plat, just with the Dexos logo. I'm running the Pennzoil Plat in my 2010 LLT (woohoo no Dexos requirement!) And running Quaker stake in my equinox with the LFX V6...I understand the LLT and LFX are a little different, but not hugely. And I haven't looked at UOA's of the LFX...just my 2 cents

Please tell me where your source is? Because using mobile 1 fully synthetic is one of the best things you can do for the LLT to prevent the infamous timing chain expansion the 10s and early 11s had before the revised chain came out.

Like I said. You can go on BITOG (bob is the oil guy) forums and look at UOA's there. I'm a member of the traverse forum too and they also have the 3.6 LLT, albeit detuned, and this is where I was first alerted to it. I'm busy now and don't have time to get links for you, I'll see if I can later.

Edit: also, on the traverse forum, they were saying the exact opposite of you. That mobile 1 was the worst for timing chain stretch and most agreed that either PP or valvoline Dino worked very well.

http://www.bobistheoilguy.com/forums...70#Post1899170 - this is for an outlook with the same LLT engine...notice the high iron running mobil 1...

http://www.bobistheoilguy.com/forums...Number=1892745 - look at the iron count for castrol edge (also regarded as good oil for the LLT's...its much much lower than mobile 1

http://s858.photobucket.com/user/jdr...-9-10.jpg.html - this is a Pennzoil Platinum in an 09 GMC Acadia (same LLT) - again...notice the much lower iron count compared to mobil 1...

so as you can see...on the LLT, at least, Mobil 1 shows much higher iron counts...i didnt suggest against using mobil 1 because i dont like them...they make, in my opinion, one of the best oils...for port injected cars, that is...for whatever reason, it seems to get beat up way more then other oils by direct injected engines...and on another note, OP, i think i found you on BITOG LOL

I did my 1st oil change at 1600 miles. Had it done at the dealer and they put ACDelco Syn Blend dexos approved. It has been about a year now with 4500 miles. Gonna switch it out and put in Pennzoil Platinum 5w-30 and whatever oil filter is on sale.

Good choice going with PP. ive been reading alot over at BITOG and deff. Using PP over M1. Id even pick QSUD over M1
