Anyone else wish Tap Shift Mode could be disabled?

This is the 3rd time since I got my car that I've went to signal a leftward lane change, hit the paddle on the steering wheel instead of the turn signal, and downshifted into 1st while on the parkway.

Besides the stress on the car, I'm now in a lane blocking traffic.

The sucky part is that it can be initiated in D, instead of having to be in M.

Only does this on the V6 models. With V8 models, you have to be in M mode.

Nope, I tap mine all the time and I don't shift. Only works when in Manual mode.

if this is really a problem you can always install an on/off switch at the signal wire in the steering column.
I put in CFD's pistol grip shifter and installed a micro switch under the dash that switches manual operation from the paddle to the shifter whenever I want.
it would not be difficult to just wire in a switch to just turn off the paddles, see CFD's pistol grip shifter thread on which specific wire it is.

Back at the end of February, my SS was involved in an accident (not my fault) and was in the shop for 3 weeks. I was in a rented 2013 Camaro LT from Enterprise and was able to use tap shift all day long while the shifter was in "D". NEVER had to put it in "M" to tap shift.
