Dealer Service Personnel

I swear that a job requirement for service advisers must read "Must have an IQ no higher than 50 to apply." And it's worse now that there are fewer dealers around.

I apologize to any service folks that may be on this forum - you are obviously the smart ones. I just wish some of you worked around here.

Just needed to rant a bit. Simply trying to get my A6 in for the TSB reflash, and it's like talking to a bunch of monkeys. Even tried to talk about getting my break fluid swapped/flushed for Dot 4. That's like talking Polish to someone who only speaks Arabic.

It's not that they're stupid, it's they don't give a damn.

Crappy warranty work does not pay their bills.

This is a pretty common problem in all fields of customer service and maintenance. If you just pay the guy to show up, then you get the guy to show up. Paying the minimum isn't just a legal requirement. If you pay the minimum for a worker to do the work, then they'll give the minimum effort to get the work done. A lot of times, the most profitable dealerships are the ones that have the cheapest labor, but that comes at the cost of turnover and poor results. People end up taking their work to other dealerships, but the original dealer keeps selling cars. It's a system that needs some investigation and reform.

Just be glad they did not damage your car. I took mine in to have the spoiler bolts tightened (one fell off in the trunk lid) and when I got it back, I had a scratch in the bumper, one on the side of the lid and a fastener missing from the carpet on the lid.

Took it back, had two people say they did not do it, then blamed me.

Will not be going back!!!

Guess the lesson learned (the hard way) from this is to take photos of your car before you take it in. Or maybe once it gets there, right before they start working on it...
