Amsoil Z-Rod for cammed LS3 w/cats

Im running American Racing headers with the cats they now supply. How long should they last with Z-Rod?

Full 1LE suspension, with BMR adjustable sway bars and links, GM aluminum cradle bushings, Hurst shifter with lighter reverse spring, TWM shifter knob, Tick level 1 transmission. I should have bought a ZL1

You will be fine. They will most likely outlast the engine.
The theory of zddp harming the cats is a statement that has to be made mandated by the epa, many folks say they have never experienced issue

Yo Andy!

For a cammed LS3, would the Signature Series suffice, or must one switch to the Z-Rod?

The signature series would be more than great for a cammed car. all sig series oils have around 900 ppm of ZDDP and an outstanding extreme pressure properties

1. For pure racing and better protection, specially for large cams.
http://www.amsoil.com/shop/by-produc...code=RD50QT-EA

2. For racing and street driving.

2. Another good option is the Euro 5W40, there are a few 1800 HP GTRs using it.

Andy, for Racing and street driving, am I reading correct, that you recommend 20W/50??

Isn't that a tad too heavy?

you should NOT run 20w50 in a LS motor. z rod 10w30 is fine.

My recommendations are based on the engine being built. The 15W50 racing dominator oil is on the lower end of the viscosity spectrum for 50.

Remember the key point here is that once your engine is built your engine builder will spec an oil viscosity,, he should not mandate which brand of oil but which viscosity.

But if your block is stock then Sig Series 5W30 or Zrod 10W30 even better
