Is anybody running 10-30 in their cars?

my brother just blew up his '07 Z06 20k miles on it.....and he kept running 5-30

It's got a cop motor, a 440 cubic inch plant, it's got cop tires, cop suspension, cop shocks. It's a model made before catalytic converters so it'll run good on regular gas. What do you say, is it the new Bluesmobile or what?

i think he means it blew up on 5w-30 so hes asking abt 10w-30

What does this have anything to do with changing the cold cranking viscosity of the oil?

Both 5-30 and 10-30 have the exact same running temp viscosity. If the oil was the cause (which most likely is not the cause since the engine in the Z06 is notorious of blowing up to start with), it would have happened no matter if he ran 0-30, 5-30, or 10-30.

nah bro he was using 5w30...thats why im wanting to go with 10-30 for my car
