Try as I might, I could not hook up.

Took my ZL1 to the track today.
Best I could do was a 13.27. Manual trans.
I simply could not get traction no matter how hard I tried or what mode or no mode or what rpm I left at. spin. spin, more spin.
Best trap was 113.50, ...on that run I had a 2.7 60 ft.haha.
Best 60 was 2.36.

This car is like driving on a skating rink at the starting line with the factory tires. I need some slicks bigtime.
Going by the mph this car seems capable of low 12's in stock trim for sure.

Launch control didn't help? I'm sure you still had fun even though you were obviously a little frustrated.

What were your tire pressures?

I dropped my pressure down to 28 psi and it seemed to help a little.

I took mine to the track last night and had the same problem.

My best time was a 12.60 @ 111 mph

The DA was 2400 and was 90 degrees

I have a standard transmission on PTM 5 and no throttle lift between shifts

Some drag radials sure would be nice!

Traction control was of no help. I did have fun though. I was frustrated to say the least. If this car hooked it would be a rocket.

Tire pressures initially wer 35, dropped them to 32, not sure what actual air figures were, but it was hot and humid.

You guys with the manuals need to be using the launch control on factory tires. Let the computer control the wheel spin off the line for you. On another note...all these sticky street radials need to be lightly heated up to stick but you can take it too far and they become slick. Don't do big burn outs. Just rotate the tires a few turns to heat the surface. Just enough to see a little white smoke for a second and then stop. If you do big burn outs they become slippery.

And 28psi is a good target for tire pressure. Don't go 26 or lower at it will affect the traction/stability control and lock you out of PTM. Also check out this site: http://rangeracceleration.com/ This guy is very well known and respected on Corvette Forum and many others for teaching his techniques. He has taken bone stock performance cars and not only beaten the magazines times but even the manufacturers best times on their own car. Lots of really good info he teaches for drag racing.

I did no burnouts, drove around the water box. tried all modes and no modes, still spun like crazy. Launch control spun. coulda sat there all day spinning if I wanted to.
Doesnt make sense. Tried to do a burnout on the return road to check everything, then it worked. car spun for a second then computer cut in and stopped it. Although it cut it like a rev limiter cuts it, so it would be on/offon/off and I'd still sit and spin only intermittently.
More testing is needed I guess.
It seems to me when I have tested launch control on the street it worked way better than on the track.

Launch control shouldn't have been going up in smoke. Sounds like that track is in desperate need of some resurfacing and proper launch prep.

Just curious with the launch control...are you putting it in 1st, clutch in and then flooring the gas? It should hold your rpms for you through the launch.

What he said. You won't be in launch control mode until you're in 1st gear, clutch pressed in and the throttle to the floor. If you're not at 100% throttle position it won't engage launch control. Once in launch control mode it won't let let your rpm's redline even with your foot on the floor and when you launch it won't let the tires go up in smoke. I'm suspecting you guys didn't have you foot to the floor before letting out on the clutch. And don't sidestep the clutch either. Let it out quickly and smoothly but don't dump it.

Yes I used launch control the only way I know, 1st gear..hold throttle to floor..4000rpm sticks..let out clutch steady/quickly release....spin.

launch control seems to do one thing..gives you a trans brake like action but thats it traction is still out the window..it still sits and spins.

I noticed last night at the local strip, any car with street tires was running like it was on ice. This heat is making decent launches hard.
