Took the tech for a test drive and low and behold the brakes squealed like a pig. Got back to the dealership and they found Bulletin #10-05-23-002 which said customers have complaied about brakes making noise, and to replace the front pads. This came after the TSB for the weights on the front brakes, so if you have the new brakes with the roller skate's on them, this new TSB would apply to you. When I get to work in the morning I will copy/paste the whole Bulletin for you guys.

Thanks for hunting down this bulletin. I'm on my third set of pads already, and had enough of it. I filed a claim with Chevrolet and BBB in hopes of finding some sort of solution. The answer Chevrolet keeps coming back to me with is "brakes are supposed to squeak, just slam on them a few times and it will go away." Obviously I'm not comfortable with slamming on my brakes so that's not happening.

Here's a PDF copy of the TSB. Now you have something to print out and give to your dealer. I hope this helps others. My brake pads are on order, and should be in next week.

Squeaky brakes are a fact of life for most cars. Some don't squeak, some squeak a little, and some sweak a lot. Driving habbits, brake dust and type of commute are some of the factors. Physically the pads and rotors get glazed. Some people say you can get ride of it by slamming on the brakes, but you can get rid of it (for a while) by sanding down the rotors and pads. My brakes squeal a little bit sometimes when moving slow at a red light.

Mine squeaked almost from the beginning. I took it in(per service bulletin) and they put the new breaks with the "roller skate" weights on in front. It stopped the squeaking.

Bedding does help. You need a safe place to do this and the key is NOT to come to a full stop. For a street pad, take the car up to 40 and stand on the brakes down to 20. Keep going and do it from 50 down to 20. Keep going to 60 down to 20 and one more time to 70 down to 20. Keep driving and let the brakes cool down before coming to a full stop.

The pad compound is good as is the complete SS brake system. Get them well bedded and you will be pleased with the brakes. This is erratic driving and requires the driver to be in a very aware with no traffic around. 3 in the morning on an expressway is a great place until you try to explain to the police officer what you were doing and that you really haven't been drinking.

19,700 miles and I too have the squeaky brakes. I'm hoping that when I have my new rotors/pads installed next week I'll be done with the squeaks.

That made me laugh.. good post Pete!

True. if the brakes get seated correctly, they shouldn't squeal.

if they do (with a few K miles on them), light sanding of the pads and rotors is necessary and re-seat them.

Otherwise, sell the car as you don't know how to use HP brakes as the brake squeal is a normal part of racing quality brakes.

I have a brke problem tp no squeaking but the driver side front rotor is wearing a groove on it thet will catch yoir fingernail!! Only 1400 miles on them by the way they are the brembo ss factory brakes. Anybody else experience this? Was going to upgrade to drilled and sloted rotors but not this soon and if anybody knows a good place to get good set hook me up pls.but I don't want the things getting groves in them either so need to figgure this out? My cals. Just have the weights on them but have seen some with the round deals that stick out instead don't know what's up with that change?? You think brembo would be top shelf? Or maybe has someyhing to do with the stabilitrak sys. Not operating properly? Who knows but never had a rotor need to b turned or replaced on a brand new car esp. At 1400 miles!!
