Factory License plate on 14' Camaro

My dealer installed the OEM license plate holder for the front bumper, but i am wanting to take it off. I cant quite figure out how it comes off, or if it leaves any holes behind after removal.....It looks like it is clipped into the grill somehow, and then maybe riveted on there? Cant stand the look of the front plate, i would like to build/buy something that mounts to the factory towhook spot.

Has anyone successfully removed the OEM plate holder on a 14/15 1LE to see if anything is left behind?

Thanks in advance, i tried searching but most threads are about aftermarket options not the OEM.

The factory holder is held on with some rivets. To see the rivets you will have to take off the plate and then you can see where they are. You will have to drill the rivets to remove them but you will have holes on the bumper. The only way to cover those holes is by having a body shop fill them and repaint the bumper, unless you find some caps and get some factory paint to paint those.

Hope this helps you.

Thank you,
Ricardo

damn the luck, i cant believe they actually drill into the bumper. :( any idea how small the holes are? looking at the rivets, it looks like they would be where the black plastic grill part is. i might could get something to fill those in like a small black plastic plug

Missouri requires a front plate anyway, so it could be worse.

Someone had tried taking mine off before I bought it and made a mess of it. I just replaced the whole lower grill with a factory piece. Cost me $60

It's riveted to the bottom grille piece the holes will be there...not the bumper. I drilled my rivets out with a step bit. At first I got some plastic plugs from lowes but that looked like doo doo. So I priced the bottom piece new from the dealer and it was like 50 bucks. I ordered it and replaced it then got a show and go plate holder.

I bought at $5 flat bracket from an auto parts store and zip tied the bracket. No holes and it doesn't touch any part of the paint.

That will be my option if it ever comes to that, I just don't have one on the front, but I live in NY
