It was a Turbo Buick restoration video series on YouTube that got me back into cars. Went with the Camaro, best new era muscle car by far IMO.

My brother has a 69 Chevelle ... not a COPO though. By far its the longest-owned vehicle in his 'fleet': he bought it a few months before he turned 16 & still has it more than 2 decades later.
And while on the subject of classic Chevelles, my cousin has a '70 in the traditional black-on-red colour scheme.

I ordered one of the 87 GNs built when they extended the model build through the calendar year.
My favorite moment was when I was on Brownsville Rd at the stop light for M24 just North of the Palace in Auburn Hills. A guy pulled up next to me and asked, "is that thing fast?" "Watch this I said as I filled a 6 lane divided highway with white smoke with a burn out across all 6 lanes. I was still in my 20's and stupid enough for such things. Still have yet turn off TC in the SS. Sold it as my car payments (had to have a winter car) exceeded my mortgage payment. Loved it and sometimes wish I still had it. Probably why I have my Black Chevy SS now.

COPO
Central Office Production Order If you wanted an oddball combo , you had to pay a sizable down payment to get it built. Took a box stock 69 Malibu 2 door htp and checked off the following options in the salesmans office; 350/300 4bbl 3 speed manual floor shifter Positraction Rally Wheels with trim rings Build your muscle car to your own specs. |
