Ahh, the days of the 8-Track! I remember listening to ZZ-Top, having the song fade out in the middle, a click, then it starts back up again... Those were the days!

Oh yeah, that was when I had my 8-Track in my Mustang II.

No, not kidding. It's old technology now. I can't remember the last time I even listened to a CD. Why carry around 600 CD's when you can have an MP3 the size of a money clip in your pocket? I personally enjoy the stock, Boston system. I don't listen to the stereo all the time, but I think it's pretty good. I had an '08 Wrangler before my Vert and that stereo was awful. With the top down, you may as well have not even had it on. It was worthless. Stereo junkies that need bass crushing their chests that was cool circa 1992, may disagree, but I've had some bad stock systems in the past. This is pretty descent.

I meant about them not having a CD player in the 2014...

The 2013's don't have them and it will continue in 2014, so on and so forth.

Well, I guess that makes my decision easy....this is my last Camaro.

I'm not going to buy a car that won't play the hundreds upon hundreds of music CDs that I have...and I am certainly not going to make a point to go out and buy an MP3 player JUST to listen to in my car.

Not including a CD player will cost them sales. I guarantee that.

Bad decision.

Even though CD's are becoming more and more obsolete, I do agree with you to not put one in the new models is just ridiculous!!

Oh I don't at all argue they are becoming obsolete...but you better believe Ford and Dodge, along with almost every other manufacturer on the planet, will be including CD players on their models...just another check mark the Camaro will not have. That is just extremely frustrating, I'm sorry. I mean, a $40k car built with seriously shoddy interior plastic, hair-thin paint with almost zero clearcoat on it, and now CD players aren't included?

GM, are you shitting me or what?? Cheap bastards. I could understand if the car got cheaper with the removal of components, but the 2013s are increasing in price, as will future models because the market demands it pretty much.

Yeah, they added MyLink. So? Would it have been so hard to give people options like a Nav unit WITH a CD player or one with MP3 only? Oh wait..no..that would mean giving people CHOICES...and that's just illogical.

I'm pretty sure we loaned them enough money in the bailout to cover some CD players...just saying.
It's just ludicrous.

Technology moves quickly. CD's have been out since the mid-1980's. 8-tracks used to be in cars, then came cassette tapes, then CD's, now MP3 hook ups and even hard drives built into dashes to upload music straight to your stereo and you don't even need an MP3 player! Most vehicles are moving away from CD's because, like I said, who wants to carry around a 55-gallon drum full of CD's? You don't have to anymore. I guess you won't be buying any new cars pretty soon if you're dead set on this. I'm sure there were other stubborn people when the other music devices went out too. Time moves on, try to find a new car with an 8-track or cassette deck. FYI: I had a lot of CD's, I uploaded them to my PC, then uploaded them to my MP3.

Would you like to place money that GM is in the minority on this move? The bank is open.

By the way, I can go right now to the Ford dealer...pick any trim Mustang...and play all the CDs I want.

You don't have to take your whole collection with you, you just take the ones you want to hear. It's not that difficult.

Besides, what about people who don't have access to PCs? Believe it or not, they are still out there. Plus I find CD sound quality to be better than MP3.

I understand tech moves fast...I'm an I.T. specialist by trade. But many times companies make the leap too fast and regret it. I feel that is exactly what GM is doing here.

http://blogs.cars.com/kickingtires/2...-new-cars.html I've had my 2011 now for 1.5 years, I have never even had a CD in the car. You sound like my Dad. He wanted a new cell phone this past year because his was taking a dump. I took him to the store and he wanted one that was NOT a smart phone. He said he wouldn't know how to use it. He wanted an old school flip phone that was new, had a camera and video capabilty. The sales people all looked at him like he was nuts. The only flip phones they had were bargain basement with no camera! He had to go to 100 different stores before he finally found what he wanted. Technology and older people (My Dad is 55) don't mix well a lot of the time. I'm sure I'll be the same way when I get older. "Where in the Hell are all the phones with the rotary dial? Where are the new cars with the turntable on top of the dash?".
