Soft clearcoat???
Is it possible I got a lemon clearcoat? My 2012 VR 1LT came with swirl marks and lots of clearcoat scratches. I can even scratch it with my finger although my fingers are a little rough from work. I can't seem to scratch my SGM clear though.(unless I just can't see it on my SGM...) I bought a DA polisher and everything I need to do a full detail but if my clearcoats no good ill just be wasting my time.

Different colors can have different hardness. Jet black on bmws are notoriously soft and hard to work with while most bmws are middle to hard.

So if it is soft what would be the fix? Is the some sort of test to see if its soft or hard? (The clearcoat I mean)

Thanks for the advice but I'm wondering if there's something wrong with the clear itself? It just seems to scratch way to easily.
