Window Tint Brands?

I'm going to put window tint on my new camaro soon, no doubt about it. However, there are so many different types and brands I'm kind of lost. Anyone know which would be the best at providing a dark look while blocking out a lot of heat? I live in Houston so preventing heat would be a huuuuuge plus. Thanks guys

i went with the 3m. It has color fade lifetime guarantee and blocks something like 60% heat compared to 15-20% for standard 3m. I went 20% transparency all windows but windshield.

If you want to block heat, go with a ceramic tint. I've used Formula One Pinnacle series tint on both my Camaros and would do it again in a heartbeat, especially in Houston. The difference between cheap tint and ceramic tint is about $200-$300. The difference in heat transfer is definitely noticeable.

If you opt to go with this, I had mine done at X-Pert Tint and Alarm (http://www.houstontint.com/). They are located off of 59 just before BW8 on the SW side of Houston.

So ceramic tint provides the best heat reduction? I saw TX has 25% visible light transmission on front driver and passenger with no restrictions elsewhere...25% seems like it will be very dark...is that correct?

I went with SolarGard after talking with 4-5 window tinting companies and asking them what they would recommend. 2 actually went to the big Las Vegas car convention or car expo thing that happens once a year, and have said out of all the brands SolarGard is HIGHLY recommended. I was looking into Huper Optix because a lot of BMW Mercedes Lexus Ferraris etc etc owners get it installed on their car. Biggest thing, go ceramic and pay the extra bucks.

I have 3M tint on my car. It came with a lifetime warranty against fading, tearing, and any damage. I got 20% on my windows and I think it turned out great.

I wouldn't exactly call 25% dark. It's kind of hard to tell but the factory glass already cuts light transmission down to 70% due to the built in tinting in the glass itself. You'll have to factor that in when putting another layer of tint on as well - some state inspection shops will actually measure light transmission on the door glass as part of your annual inspection. I run 30% tint on the doors and 15% on the sides and back. Still doesn't seem too dark to me compared to other vehicles I've seen but it does keep me legal.

Thanks for all the help here! I'll let everyone know what I end up getting in a week or two...it's brutal, I'm on a business trip and my car just arrived at the dealership the day after I left...5 more days before I can pick her up...being patient....

I've got FormulaOne Pinnacle Ceramic tint on my car and like it for what it's worth. I had Llumar metallic tint on my 1995 Dodge Ram pickup and it lasted all the way until I sold it in 2009 - I'm sure it's still looking good for the new owner!
