I will say this: I used to commute in a Silverado... then I bought the Camaro. My fuel savings is ABOUT $200/ month. That justifies my purchase!

Thanks for all the feed back, it's what I was looking for! Now, to try and convince the wife this Camaro won't turn out like the 11 SS or the 81 Z28. LOL! Stay tuned!

2LT and I get 25-26 by keeping my foot off it with 70-30 highway-city driving. If I play with it a bunch, I get 20-22.

That as well is what I used as a selling point to my mife.
I was driving 500+ miles a week in an Avalanche......it was killin us on fuel.
I told the Mrs I know I can sqweek out 30 mpgs out of a V6 Camaro, so we got one I DID manage 30+ MPGs on average, and we saved a lot of money.
Fast forward to my current situation- I only drive the car for pure enjoyment now, its just a toy to me now and I love that fact. So I traded in for a fully loaded out 2lt/RS vert(yes I STILL like the performance of the V6) Do I still get good MPGs?..............Nope! And I dont care anymore! When the tank goes dry, I just fill it up and pay absolutely no attention to MPGs or the price of gas. Ya I know it gets around twenty in the city, and probably will get 30 highway, but I am having too much of a blast and good time driving it to notice anymore.
What im trying to say is this- when you need to save fuel in these cars..........it can be done reliably, you just have to use different driving techniques, and when you want to have some fun in these cars, then you sure can bet it will consume gas in large quantities, that goes for either V8 and V6.

I'm curious what everyone thinks about the V6 and what kind of gas mileage you're getting. I spoke with a C5 guy Saturday and he's getting around 20 highway so I'm wondering what others are seeing? Any issues with V6?
I reside in the immediate, jam-packed DC suburbs (I don't commute into DC) and I get SHITTY mpg's. I've only broken 20 miles / gal. twice in nearly 3 years I've owned my 'vert (haven't been on any road trips).

If you live in the immediate Boston area, don't count on good mpg's. Then again, everyone has a different idea of what "good" vs. "reasonable" vs. "not good" gas-mileage is.

Check my mpg's here: http://mpgtune.com/fillupHistory.php?carId=5547

Yeah, I've heard they don't get the peak mileage until 10K - 15K miles. Mine is 14K now and I have noticed at modest improvment. I don't hot rod too much, but I am in a lot of heavy traffic typically. When new I usually averaged about 19, now usually 20 or 21.

I agree with you 100%. When I want I can get 22 MPG on the highway with my 735 hp 2011 SS just by "how" I drive. Best I can do with the Denali is 16, maybe 17 on long highway trips but on a daily basis that's just not "great". So I'm just about there with purchasing a 14 2LT with an automatic V6, just have to figure out how to explain it to the wife (who, by the way, hates my Camaro's! LOL). She'll be on board with the better gas, but another Camaro, well that's something I have to be "creative" about.

I've owned both (see my sig).
Averaged over one full year for each car:
2SS (LS3) = 23.6mpg (avg)
2LT (LLT) = 25.5mpg (avg)

I think the payback for buying a V6 will be very long.

Love the V6. Getting 22 MPG combined with automatic. $.40 cheaper per gallon. Was getting 18 MPG in my manual SS. Will be great DD.

I use mine as my work car and since I do drive a lot, 34.5k in less that 1.5 years I am getting lifetime 25.3 mpg according to the Camaro. I normally average around 27 mpg per tank unless I am near home with just city traffic.

When I had my 2LT, it averaged 22-24 for mixed driving. When I took a longer road trip it averaged 28-30.
