That's what soundproofing is for.

Its called sound deadening not sound proofing. Ask any good installer and he will tell you the same, stuff like dynamat or edead will help but you will still get rattle.

According to Steve's site the midsize side enclosure is .08 cu feet. The large side enclosure is 1.2 cu feet.

Cheers

dynomat>

No matter what you put in your car if you don't dynomat it's going to rattle.

Just put a 12 in there. Brands are pretty much all the same, but you do get what you pay for. If you roll with a 200watt amp don't expect much. I'd say 500 consistant on a speaker that handles 500 rms 1k peak would be very nice. One problem I notice is some people don't have enough wattage for the sound they want and it makes there system sound like crap.

Dynamat, Second Skin, Roadkill (from Stinger) hushmat... they are all very similar. they are damping (not dampening) materials... they add mass to the metal surfaces (or plastic inthe case for door cards) to reduce the resonant frequency of the material to reduce vibration (not rattles) by doing so you increase the useable volume of your audio system because you are not having to overcome noise issues from the vehicle or outside. DONE PROPERLY you can increase the loudness of your audio system by 3dB (which is twice as loud).

That's what I was thinking Moriartti could do. That's a clean setup.

Done wrong, and it can drop score too! However, not something someone with a daily driver setup is going to be worried about, lol. Very good advice through and through though!

here to learn all you need to know about sound deadener and its proper application. Application of CLD (aka dynamat) is only a piece of the overall puzzle.

JL

just ordered the JL 3-10s in the fiberglass box (stealthbox), getting painted orange to match car plus a 750 amp to drive them.

here are a couple of sneak peak pics of one we are working on... not finished up yet as it had to go back up to the motor shop for some work and we are doing some custom paint to some parts.

I wll post more up when we are able to finish it up.
