in the 2014 brochure its says the 1le is bout 200 lbs hevier then the regular ss

how can this be, I thought the wheels were lighter and nothing else in it should add much weight if any

How much does it say it weights? Maybe you got confused with the ZL1 which is about 200 lbs heavier.

It is not. 1le is 33lbs lighter than standard SS with manual transmission.

They are a tad heavier than a regular SS. Tower brace. Bigger suspension. Bigger sway bars. Heftier half shafts. Heftier tranny. And some told me the 10 spokes are actually a tad heavier than SS rims

Not only is the 1LE lighter than the SS, but the 1LE is only about 55 pounds heavier than the Z/28. That's about the same weight savings as my ARH longtube headers / cats / cat-back exhaust gave me. Cool, so my 1LE weighs the same as a Z/28

Na, Ive had both wheels side by side. the 1Le wheel/tire combo is lighter by a noticable ammount. Everything else... Id say your correct.

the wheel tire combo saves over 20 pounds vs the SS, the trans isnt "beefier" its just geared different, strut tower brace weighs like 2 lbs, weight differences in sway bars is probably measured in ounces, id have to check on the shocks but just because a shock is valved differently doesnt mean its heavier

I do not see how a 1LE is lighter than a regular LS3 SS. The tires are bigger so the rears save 2.4 pounds (61.6 vs 64) each ( just weighed my back wheel on a very accurate scale) and 1.7 from what I can find on front weights, 1.7 savings (59 vs 60.7) on each front. So to be very generous, let's say 10 pounds. Where else is the weight savings to make up for the extra and heavier parts? I do think though there is a 70-100 pound difference in sunroof and 2SS versus 1SS 1LEs.

Don't forget the cooler, stronger axles, and splitter. Did you weigh the brace? I took mine off to paint it. I did not weigh it but I think its more than 2 pounds.

per the 2014 brochure

1ss manual 3908 lbs
1le 3875lbs
zl1 4120lbs

it doesnt directly list the z28 weight but it says 300 lbs lighter then the zl1
