My two cents. If they are so worried about this they can give me two additional keys and Fobs that aren't the switch blade style on their own dime and recommend I use them. I'm not letting them pull apart my existing keys and jury rig them.

I'm certain this has been covered ad nauseum but here goes - went to the dealer for my first oil change and was told they had to order the parts anyway for the recall that they didn't "have a choice" but I was not pressured - I declined and signed a form noting such in my vehicle history. I did kinda get the "dude has three heads" look when I said no. I like my switchblades. I never attach things to my key and my knee has no chance in hell of ever hitting the fob while I drive.

I got the recall done at the same time I got the recall done for the seat bolts. They just opened the fob and took out the blade and gave me two new keys. they did not even put a filler in where the old key used to sit when folded in place. funny thing is that when I went in last week and they changed all six fuel injectors at 21800 miles the car they gave me as a rental (sonic) while they had my car in the shop had the switchblade keys however the ignition was not in the same place. Of course they always say that recalls are done at no cost to us however i have an hour drive to get to the dealer and then back home plus the usual 1 to 2 hours for them to get the car in the garage and actually do the work so if i was to charge the $100/hour they charge me to do work it ends up costing me $400 plus my gas and mileage put on the car. I have actually gotten used to the new key and did not want to take the chance that if something happened and the insurance company found out the key recall had not been done then they may not honor the insurance policy.

You would think the government would have much more important things to worry about.

This will be a nightmare for people. The MVA in MD already sucks at record keeping of offences etc. with incompetent employees who dont know the laws and force them to either pay fines or go to courts to prove they're innocent . This will only be another revenue scheme.

They Should give us the keys and not remove the switchblade from it. Either put in a filler or present us with a new fob case. It's ridiculous that GM thinks that this is a viable option. Give me the damn keys and leave my switchblades alone.

My new 2014 1SS that I bought on Jan 2 came with one fully functional switchblade key fob and one butchered fob. The butchered fob has an external key attached to it. I kept the good fob and gave the butchered one to my wife.

I just received an e-mail from my auto insurance company with "An Important Notice About Your Vehicle" reminding me of an official notification that CHEVROLET may have sent me. It went on to state "Please note that this recall will not impact your insurance rates or coverage in any way."

However, it has me wondering what they are going to do when I don't have the recall performed. Maybe I should "lose" one of the switchblade's and have the recall performed on just the one? Will this satisfy the recall? Or will the dealer require that I purchase another one?

I like my switchblade key. It came with my Camaro and it will always be with it. I don't care if I have to sign something to avoid getting the recall key and fob set up! SWITCHBLADE KEY ALL THE WAY!!!
