Top replacement time! Looking for dealership!
Hi Guys,
I posted a few times, but my warranty will be up soon, so I am looking for a dealership between Toronto and Ottawa that has experince with top replacements. Knock on wood, no 5th bow issues, no leaks, no noises, no water bag issues. I took my car to my local dealer and they agreed that its a manufacture default with the ware marks above my passenger door are clearly from rubbing on the framing when folded. It does not leak, but the threads are clearly damaged. I was able to prevent any more damage, but it should be replaced, IMO. I don't want my local dealer touching my rag top since he mentioned "I know a good guy that does boat canvas tops in Bellieve" .. Boat tops? STEP AWAY FROM MY CAR! I dont mind driving my car and dropping it off. With the winter we have had this year, spring seems a long way away. So if they need a few weeks, no problem. PM or email me if you know of a dealer that has had success with top replacements. Thanks

Absolutemayhem,
Glad to hear!!! I think I saw your car at the dealership tuesday afternoon, but wasn't sure. That was sure quick...It took almost 3 weeks for mine...The tech was not happy with the way the top was sitting on mine, so they kept changing linkages out until they were. Like I had indicated to you, the shop that does the work, has done numerous camaro tops, which is the key,to a properly functioning repair. Did you have them check the water bag at the same time??? In the Meantime, ENJOY IT!!!! |

I really examined the top last night after work. All the seals look good. the rear seal to the trunk looks perfect. The only difference is now the bars that go over the windows, when its in the completely down state they seem a little higher then before. It was a little harder to put the tounneau cover on last night. but other then that it looks great.

I think this could be the new normal...after my top replacement, the side arms sit at a different angle (angled more up), when the top is in the down position.Prior to the replacement, the arms were more horizontal and now, although a bit of an exaggeration sit at 45 degree angle when the top is down. |
