The reason I suggested cold packs was it reminded me of a home made cold air intake system I saw at the track a few years ago. The guy who made it was more than happy to show it to me and explain how he made it. First he made his own air box from a small Igloo cooler with brackets on the inside to hold the cold packs away from the cone filter, also a wire mesh bracket on the bottom of the cooler lid to hold an additional cold pack. He then used PVC tubing to make his air runners and wrapped those runners with header wrap for insulation and to prevent heat soak. To keep under hood temps down he had ceramic headers which were also wrapped with header wrap. Now according to the owner, he picked up two tenths of a second in the quarter using this cold air system and it seemed to pull better on the high end. Now whether or not this is true or not I can`t say, just repeating what I was told and saw.

Pretty cool story. I wonder how he kept his beer from getting shaken up, though?

That's the one thing I miss about Michigan.... Those cool fall mornings, when the air is cool and your fuel is cool and the power difference is OMG.....

Back in the day when I use to run Gratiot and Woodward we use to run cool cans for the fuel ( made them ourselves) and the power gains were impressive ...
