rs/ss
Ok I'm in the market for a 5th generation camaro 2010-2013 only. I love the body style and look. I plan on keeping the car for years to come. I want something I can drive in the summer and on trips but I also want something I can power up when I want. Some people tell me get the ss some people tell me the v6 with all the aftermarket parts and power is a great option. My money is limited to about 20 grand. I can handle the payment and still make modifications. I also want manual transmission only. Some people tell me the 0-60 time is about the same for the difference in cost. I'm also being told the v6 is a lighter car and with modification (supercharger or twin turbo) can produce just as push power and speed as the ss. I do a lot of reading myself but I would like advise and comments. The RS looks to be in the middle with options. Northeast Ohio

The RS is an appearance package on both (V6 & SS), it's not a model and not in the middle of anything.
0-60 times are NOT the same. Sure the V6 can be modified to catch a stock SS but what happens when you run into a modified SS? As for weight, they are within about 150Lbs of each other. |

“Welcome to the party, pal.”
-John McClane The RS is available in bot the V6 and SS, it is a package (HID headlights, HUD, red badges, etc.)

Thanks I do understand the RS is a package I guess what I meant to say is I like the RS package on the v6 model. I thought it was standard on the ss model. I'm not into racing some coming across a faster car is not my issue I just want to be fast enough when I power up. Does the car sit on a different suspension from Lt1 to ss. Or different brakes

2SS/RS is my vote. Unless you can afford a ZL1!

That makes a lot on since commando and thanks for everyone's comments. I wasn't sure if they were built on the same suspension. It's hard to find a ss in my price range. I'm so tired of waiting. The auto show will be in town in march do you think the prices will drop in my local car dealerships. The last car I bought was in 98 and that was a tahoe just trying not to pay to much.

Honestly, if you're a casual driver and you won't be doing anything crazy but going back and forth to work, and looking good out and about on the town, I'd go with a V6 with the RS package.

You are right you aren't going to find a used SS with RS pkg for $20.000 but by the time you buy the supercharger and all of the mods for a V6 you could find a used SS. I can only speak for myself but in 2012 I bought a new V6 I liked the car it had a lot of power for a V6 but for me it was just missing something and that was a V8 and everything that you get from a V8 from the time you turn the key. When I found my current Camaro a 2SS HWSE that remained on the new lot for almost a year after delivery to the dealership I couldn't turn it down. The important thing is look at what's out there and research each one before you buy,

I know you just said you are tired of waiting. Try and be strong there, and wait for the 2016 to come out. I think that will bring the prices of the 5th Gens low enough for you to afford that V8 that we all know you want.

Yeah i wasn't sure if the price would drop with the auto show coming to town. The one I have my eye on is a lt1 for about 20 grand and it's a rs model. I'm trying to do all the homework I can before purchasing the car. Their asking 19900 for it with about 7000 miles. RS package
