Subframe Question: Mounts? Bushings?

What is the difference from Pfadt's Solid Mounts vs Pedders Bushings performance wise? Are they the same thing? Did I just ask a stupid question?

They both replace the same part, but one is made of aluminum and one is polyurethane. One has no play at all, and one has very little. You have to decide how rigid you want your car and how much you want to spend. Either way they are worlds better than stock as far as performance.

HUGE discussion about this not to long ago... do a search on it... I can't remember where the thread is.

Pedders actually has 3 different styles, each a different "stiffness"... did I just say "stiffness"?

EDIT

Found the thread

I did subframe bushings first.. good quality difference for handling. It is amazing how much difference a simple poly bushing can do.

Based on my feelings of the subframe bushing, I went and did the full kit. Launch and braking are smoother... I wish I could explain it better, but I do not autocross so it is only DD applications. Road noise is very minimal and only noticeable when I hit the road reflectors. If you hit a bad road full of potholes, it is a rough ride, but beside that the ride comfort level stayed the same.

Depends on what you want from this vehicle.. if it is a DD, I would stay away from solid. Buddy of mine races and his are solid. A bit of road noise in addition to a slightly rougher ride. Ask a vendor to be sure, I am happy where I am at with the poly and wouldn't want to go any "stiffer"

mine is a DD, and i don't run auto cross or anything. the main concern is a good set up for the weekend 1/4 mile runs, but i still need to get back and forth every day.

thanks for the feedback, was a pretty good description imo

I think both products are great and we do a lot of both here. I personally run the Pfadt mounts in my Camaro and wouldn't change them for anything. The Corvette utilizes solid mounting for their sub-frames and I had a minimal to no increase in NHV. I think both products are great however and the Pedders EP1201HD is what I would recommend for your application.

Please feel free to call, email or PM me anytime with questions or for Camro5 specials! Good luck and I'll talk to you soon!

Kind regards,

I did the energy suspension ones and they worked great at less than half that price. Their inserts seem to have issues but the fully bushings installed easily and work great. If you search for my name in this section you'll find my installation and impressions.
