Catback Exhaust

Mods, feel free to move this if need be. I'm not sure where to put it. I also didn't find this through a brief search, so if a merge is needed, feel free.

Does the Catback Exhaust add-on do anything to the HP and/or, potentially, the mileage that you'd get?

I can't wait for a good exhaust sound video. Aftermarket or stock.

I've heard it could add as much as 15-20hp. And the sound will be significantly different than stock. I will wait though, I might go with another brand if it does not affect the warranty. It shouldn't tho!

I imagine the GMPP catback exhaust and shorty headers will add some HP. What the numbers are, who knows, but it sure beats throwing something on that quite possibly could void the warranty somehow.

It shouldn't affect the waranty. My friend has a balt ss w/ hahn exhaust and has never had an issue w/ his waranty.

Catbacks are mostly for sound.
In my experience with LSX vehicles (94 Z28, 99Z28, 05 GTO, 06 GTO), you usually see about 5-8hp from a catback exhaust on an otherwise stock car. It all depends on how restrictive the stock exhaust is.

More significant gains come with headers and high flow cats or race pipe alone with tuning.

Yeah, I've seen stated here maybe 5-7hp. But I'm getting it for the sound and because the mufflers won't show from the rear like the ugly, large stock ones.

Will The GMPP catback only be the mufflers and tailpipes with the larger tips?
Or will it be different pipes all the way up to the catalitic converter?

On an engine that's running 426Hp stock, you should definitely see more than 5-7HP. It's usually a percentage of the engine's original output power. That's why they can claim up to 30-40HP increases, because they place a restrictive exhaust on a Viper, test it, place in a less restrictive system, and test it again. Different gains on different vehicles. I am expecting the SS Camaro to see 15-20HP with a full catback system. I hope so, anyway.

The gains depend on how restrictive the stock is to begin with so it's not always the same percentage. If the the stock system is restrictive +15-20hp on a cat-back system could be seen, but if the stock system is less restrictive than the prvious F-bodies then maybe we will only see 7-10hp. It's too early to tell until someone can test the car.

Anyone that thinks they will be seeing 15-20hp on the Camaro by just replacing the stock cat-back is going to be really disappointed. The only way you'll be getting numbers at or over 20+ is with a full system (headers/x-pipe w/ high flow cats/cat-back).

From what i've heard from videos on the v6's exhaust i don't think i'd replace the exhaust, it already sounds like it has one on there. Man i love it.

Just rip out the stock exhaust and slap in a couple of big-ole fart cans. That'll give you at least another 85 HP....apiece!! Woohoo!!

Can you imagine what that would sound like??
