got an intake for free!

my uncle used to have a 2010 SS and he traded up for the ZL1 so he gave me his K&N intake for free so i was wondering do i need a re-tune to run the intake properly? i know some cars (my old trailblazr ss included) that when u swap out the factory intake for an after market one sometimes it doesnt help u gain hp/tq with out a re-tune and u actually lose hp/tq from said after market intake. any advice would be great.

you shouldnt lose anything just from the Intake.. you might gain some but it shouldnt hinder the performance unless it s a STRICKLY TUNE only intake like a Vararam model.. If you plan on tuning the car id put all your desired bolt-ons on first before you spend the money on tuning cause you will be spending more each time you add something on to re-tune..

ok great so ill slap it in when i break the motor in a little more, its just a basic k&n intake. as long as it wont hinder performance than im good with that. my trailblazer ss was very sensative everything u did the truck needed a tune or a re-tune, maybe thats just an LS2 problem that they needed tuning for everything. im glad i can put in the intake and not worry about throwing something off with the camaro.
