nightowl help... wifi connects but no response?
swapped out the less wired everything up and on my android phone connected it to the master defi,I felt with correct 8 digit code and connected my phones WiFi to the night owl connection, it connects and then says no response. I tried switching to static but no change. also the halos will not power up at all, don't know if that would be the same reason...
defective master? I checked all connections twice and the master does blink when powered on like it says, and I tested the ground near the fuse box. any ideas? I've tried on two different android phones no change need help asap and night owl does not answer the phone during weekends. no,halos now and had to hook the fascia back up already... |

Talk to Joe at NightOwl. They have excellent customer service.

I've been calling but both they and SJM are closed weekends, which are the only days I have to actually work on the car. I sent them both emails for now but I'm stuck waiting with no halos at all for now

Did you test it all out before installing?

Tested what I knew how to test lol. I tested everything before putting the fascia on of course, but after a while I had to just put it on so that I could drive. No halos sucks but I needed the car driveable. The fascia only takes a few minutes to take off but working inside the headlights was annoying
Wasn't sure how to test the LEDs themselves. I just followed the step by step video they provide |

Ruben,
I did not have any voicemails from you, at least none before I went to bed. I do have an email from you at 10:30 last night that I'll get back in touch with. There is a single-page instruction sheet with the kit that explains the 3 position of the switch. But I think others have jumped in and helped with that. You do need to get connected with the app, so that you can set the default colors for the halos and balance the colors so that white is to your liking. There is a wifi setting on some android devices. Unfortunately all androids seem to be very different. But this setting in the wifi configuration general settings controls whether the device will disconnect a wifi connection if it does not detect Internet access. This needs to be disabled. This is only on some devices and may be called different things. But this sounds like the issue. |

More information:
Assuming you have Samsung devices, I believe they often have a wifi setting under advanced settings called "Auto Network Switch" or something like that. Some AT&T phones at one point also had a thing called "Smart Wifi". But the basic thing is this setting (enabled by default) assumes your wifi access point should have internet access, and if it doesn't, disconnects and keeps looking for a wifi access point that does have internet. I have 3 android devices, and none of them have this setting. I had another user show me this setting on their phone. This is just the nature of android: every manufacturer thinks they can improve android. |

My galaxy s4 settings are setup exactly the same, but I still cannot connect to the nightowl properly.
To be clear, it does not keep disconnecting from the nightowl wifi. It says it is connected the whole time, never dropped off unless I unplugged the nightowl from power. When I go to the app before connecting to wifi, it says on top "WiFi Not Connected" and then again in the middle of the page says the same thing. After connecting to wifi, it says Searching on top, but the center still says wifi not connected Last edited by TommyTheCat; 10-12-2014 at 01:30 PM. |
