That thing sounds awesome, did you turn off the AFM? Also, did you tune out torque management?

sigh, I know you are saying its hot but im still clocking this at 5 seconds to 60. So, spend $1800, get a tune, and ALMOST get your advertised times from the manufacturer specs--lame.
The L99 is a real disappointment to me right now. Im sure 100 people will reply to this post telling me im crazy but im sorry, these are just not the numbers I was expecting on my Auto Camaro. My timing method was the stopwatch on the Iphone and I would push start when the RPM's reached 1k on the TACH.

I agree I am somewhat dissappointed with the performance, BUT the point of my original post, is that with 2 mods, not only will it sound the way it should have from the factory but you will achieve BETTER (not equal) performance as well. There is a reason people like Motor Trend and Car and Driver don't use stopwatches (esp on a phone) to try to achieve accurate acceleration times. I suggest if you want to use your Iphone you purchase this app...

^And my point is, it is NOT slower than GM advertised results...you CANNOT compare 2 different cars running at 2 different times of the year, in 2 different geographic locations using a phone based stop watch off a video and consider that to be an accurate representation numbers...COME ON MAN?!? My car is probably a 0-60 in 4.5 seconds compared to GM's claim, if I were to have run it on the same day that they ran theirs...you have too many variables to consider to be able to make the statement you are making...Yes, my background is science, and the methodology of 0-60 timing you are referring to, on which you are basing your claims of it being slower...is totally not scientific at all....my point being that is why C&D, MT, R&T etc all use the Vbox or other softwear to measure timing...not the stopwatch on their Iphone while watching a video of the run.

Have to agree with you pharmd... I know the Hot weather affected my times. 13.9 at 103 and 2.23 60' Once we see optimal conditions, which is what GM is abviously going to test under these times will go down. Up in the NE they have run advertised times. Down here in H-town not so...

I believe the DA in the apples to oranges topic hasn’t been clearly discussed. PharmD was running his car at a DA (density altitude) of over 2000 on a hot and humid day. The magazine tests were done before the current heat wave and often in places where the DA should have been much lower. THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT! On June 26, Friday, Houston Raceway Park had a measured DA of 2915 feet above sea level at 3:50PM. The track is physically located at 38 feet above sea level but the heat and humidity ruins that during the summer. What this means is there is not as much air going into the engine so the power output is reduced (like running your car in the mountains). We should be seeing times that match or beat the magazine times when it cools off and the humidity drops. Houston can get negative DA (more than 1000 feet below sea level) during the winter, which means you are running faster than you should. Will everyone dismiss those 0-60 claims as well?
Decent Link to Calculate DA for Tracks: http://www.dragtimes.com/da-density-...calculator.php P.S. - This is my first post on this forum but I thought this topic was worth adding emphasis to. Let's learn to make these cars faster! |

A lot of guys in here don't know about density altitude or what it does to a cars performance.
Cars run noticeably slower with a high density altitude. When the density altitude gets up over 2000 ft, cars really start to perform sluggishly (compared to being at sea level on a cool day). All this "not as advertised" stuff will be a thing of the past this fall. People will be very happy with the times the LS3 and L99 cars will be running at the track this fall in cool dry air.
