Brake Problems

My Rear brakes for some odd reason make a weird sound not so much like the pads are low more like a squeaking sound of the sort. Also the Parking brake will not let me pull it up. its very stiff and resistant to moving. any help would be much appreciated.

if you know nothing about working on brakes, bring it some place. otherwise, pull rear wheels and have a look. emergency/parking break is cable operated and there can be several reasons for it to not operate. broken cable, something fell down into the brake linkage and is stopping it from moving.

Squeaking can just happen, Ive done at least 30 brake jobs, some squeak, some dont. Dragging is a different story. I was told to take a new or newly turnded rotor and hit it with a sander or grind it lightly cause the grooves play like an old vinyl record. Never tried it lol, Parking brake could be frozen if it wasnt used often. Wd40 all of the parts underneath, let it soak and see if that helps.

If you have semi-metallic pads, every set I've had always squeaks. I've switched to Ceramics and had no issues with squeaking.

As long as the brakes are working correctly and its not a constant squeak from the squealer touching the disk, then I wouldn't sweat it. If the squealer is touching the disk, its time for new pads.
