I'm torn apart
Either I sell my '74 which I haven't had a real chance to drive since I've only had it for two months and use it as a down payment to get a new 09. Or I keep my 74 and hope it dosen't break down on me for four years untill I graduate from college and am able to buy a 5th gen on my own.
Anyone have ideas. thanks. I'm seriously on the verge of crying right now.:( |

I'd sell it now, so you don't get attached to it.
It'll suck worse in four years when you try to sell your baby. |

reliability? what is more important?
Personally...I'd let it go and get the 5th Gen. You need to get to school, you know. And....you don't need to spend all that time fixing and repairing your car when you should be studying. Get the new car....buy and rebuild an older one in 5 years when you actually have some time on your hands. |

I didn't know they were making an 09 Camaro. I ordered a 2010. Does that mean you'll get yours before me?

One thing to keep in mind, the majority of people do not like cars like we like cars. If you are going to be driving your new Camaro to school, then be prepared to have it dinged up at least a couple of times a semester and even perhaps "keyed" by a jealous, vindictive, jerk-off. Then, you are likely going to want to have it fixed and might even have to borrow money to do it...just to have it happen again the following semester. Regardless, your education is more important than buying a new car. If a new car is going to mean longer hours at work and/or more responsibility at work, then that invariably is going to lead to lower grades...how much lower depends on the the type of student you are. If you are planning on grad school, then you are going to need to keep your GPA as high as you can.

i would say sell it. if you're having a hard time scraping up funds to buy the Camaro, you will definitely have a harder time gathering funds to constantly fix and maintain the '74 when it gives you problems/breaks down.

sell it. It'll be more money and more time (fixing it) required for the '74. What happens when a high dollar item breaks on the '74? You'll be stuck without a car.
