Dollar for dollar the Camaro is faster. Sorry Dodge boy.

$40K or so for the SRT

$35K for the SS. Add 5K to the SS in mods and you'll be last all day.

There is no way I could have got a SRT for under 40k and I shopped all 3 brands. I could have got a RT for the price of my L99 but that car is a joke by comparison. Even if and its a BIG IF the SRT is faster than the SS LS3 or L99 its the RT that is the SS's competition not the SRT. We only compare the SS and SRT because they are so close in performance and all agree that the RT is no match for a SS even though its in the same price class.
So an L99 is that much faster than a R/T auto Challenger?

I can go on. with the aftermarket $=speed. and dodge is ridiculous in sales of pony cars the last 4 years, and u can see why. there can be 1000 you tube videos of them beating us or us beating them.

I don't have to state the obvious for the conclusion. u wanna go fast in a straight line for cheap, get a mustang. u wanna go fast for cheap in a straight line and around turns, get a Camaro. wanna spend way too much and not do either...get a dodge. lol. (minus a viper)
That 37k Camaro 1LE is base with no options, price the 1LE option in a 2SS and a few options that come standard in the SRT8 and you are very near the 392s 45k price tag. The 1LE handles better, but the automatic SRT8 is faster in the 1/4, stop light race, top end, roll race, is more comfortable and looks better IMO. The SRT8 also has adjustable suspension which can give you the best of both worlds. It will also hold it's value better. To me handling is nice but I have never in my 25+ years of owning performance cars ever once raced another vehicle through the twisties.

Check out the "more power-L99" thread under the engine section. That looks like the camaro in the race and he's from CA. Not sure though

Here let me start for you....like I said drivers race you can think what you want sitting behind your computer. But I race year round I don't run my mouth about what I cant prove. We have had 5th Gen/ SRT8 meets at our strip twice and its proven these cars are a drivers race.

My Proof now show me yours
You can post any number of unsubstantiated YouTube cell phone runs here claiming to have "stock" cars lined up with drivers of equal skill. The Charger/Challenger simply can't defy the laws of physics. I'm not saying it's a bad/slow/weak car at all but I've never seen a standardized test where the 6.1L Challenger/Charger came out ahead of the Camaro in anything other than weight. The Camaro is simply a better package top to bottom and sales numbers have validated that since April 2009.

The new 392 is big step forward and the 8-speed ZF should prove a nice addition but the size/weight of that chassis will always hold it back.

All I can say is thank god we have a choice! When it comes to performance, and its all said and done these cars are all very close. It comes down to brand loyalty and looks, I am chevy guy and to me the camaro is unmatched in looks and the ease of modding an ls engine. If there was no mopar and ford things would be a bore!

The gap is closer now, but the LS3 is still faster. No doubt, especially the 1LE with the better gearing.

The LS7 would have been real nice in the 1LE.

I love my SS and know that it isn't the fastest car out there. But to be honest i don't care... I chose a small cam for my build to yield a faster car with great street maners.

You will never connvince a camaro forum that your car is equal to those here, so just accept it and enjoy your ride with friends that might share your automotive enthusiasm...
Well said bro, Im starting to think some of these guys are worst then the M and AMG crowd lol

Exactly my point. Saying 2 cars within 1-2 mph isn't a drivers race is what you said. You claimed a 4mph difference when in reality its no where near that.

All the forums are the same. I have had a modded 135i and the forums over there bash anything american. Over here the N54 cars are a waste of money and all the BMW drivers are dicks... I love all cars with power, my little 135i ran 12.8's at 111...

Either way you have a sweet ride, however I love the look of the Camaro over all the other american offerings...
In a month I will be able to see how my 3.91's do, hoping for 12.20's...
