changing injectors, how does my dash display calculate fuel economy
I'm going to be changing fuel injectors soon (and the computer's parameters accordingly). I was just wondering how the fuel economy display on my dash calculates its value. Will it be forever wrong after the swap, or will it use the new injector parameters in the ECU?

not sure if just the inj size/scaling tables will effect the cluster mileage calculation,, i do know that after i tuned my VE table the fuel mileage is no longer even close in the cluster

Yep....some folks are reporting huge MPG gains when doing forced induction and such, but I fear they are relying on their cluster.

It's impossible to get HUGE MPG increases, especially when going FI. The best you can hope for is the same or maybe a tad more from a better tune. Obviously, this is footpedal dependent as your MPG will DROP MASSIVELY when you spool it up. I could damn near watch my gas gauge drop when I was racing my 500whp turbo talon, yet got 26mpg cruising down the highway. That's about what they get in stock form.

I've driven over 2000 miles after the Vortech install and 66# injectors.
I reset the mpg in the DIC before my trip to AZ and kept my gas receipts for the 1300 mile trip. My actual mpg's were within .2 mpg of the DIC display. So I'd say that the DIC is not effected by the change.

Not sure how it works on these things. However it doesn't work that way on the vettes. It uses IPW or IDC to calculate mileage depending on year model. No way to alter that to reflect correct values in the display.

If your Injector Data is off , not just the flow rate. Then your DIC will not read right [ your IPW or IDC will be off also ]. If all of the injector tables are correct for your Injectors [ The company would have had to publish the data AKA ford motorsports ] Then your DIC will be very close, even with a 79 lb injector ...
