Destination charges..............WTF?!?!

GM Canada is charging $1400 CDN for a car that is built 2 hours from my house but they are only charging $1350 CDN for the G8 which is built thousands of miles away across the Pacific ocean in Austarlia. Plus GM is only charging $750 USD for the Camaro in the States which even with the exchange rate is still a bargain compared to Canada.

End of rant.

I agree. This is madness. If it were Sparta, we wouldn't be having this discussion. Instead, some of us would be kicking others into a giant well.

We Canadians always seem to get the short end of the stick..one way or another they find ways to show us we are a lesser people than our friends to the south.

Don't get me wrong but I love the US since i lived in California for 10 years and loved it but when I can back to Canada it really hit home when I realized that we pay so much more for the same service and products that our friend do and the reason is not always evident.

I was told 7.99% through GMAC and no incentives but you can use up to $1500 in GM points.

last week i got a letter from gm that they offer me 2600$cdn cash back/rebate/off... on any vehicle that gm has..if i'm going for the camaro SS--since we canadians cannot get the g8 GXP-- it will serve for this..they are desperate..maybe that will cover for the high financing..lolbut at close to 8% it's not cheap.. if it would be lower like 2.9 or 3.9% they would have more sales..

Sorry, but this is nothing new.

Say you live in Bowling Green, KY and buy a new Corvette and opt for Museum delivery. You still pay the destination charge

Destination charges are just a way to build back profit into an artificially lowered MSRP for car companies. Since the big dealerships all race to the bottom on price, its a way to inflate the 'dealer invoice' number we all see. Like the Regional Marketing Charge. By the way, I am not saying that car companies don't pay for shipping, they certainly do, but that is the cost of doing business. I'm sure some dealers will disagree with me, but it is what it is.
