Possible Video splitter/recorder

I've been playing with the idea of installing a recorder in my glovebox that will record the video from both my aftermarket backup camera and my front bumper camera while still sending both views to my headunit but not sure if I'm right.

I have a PAC-audio RPK5-GM4101 & Kenwood DNX893S headunit, boyo vtl375hd backup cam, and a car rover ca022mf front cam to avoid hitting anything up front.

My plan is using a video cable splitter for to kind of "tap" into the signal to the screen and connect the other end to a dvr recorder installed in the glovebox. Think the same concept as a dash cam/aircraft black box.

I already have a blackvue installed front and back but would like this as a backup/better views for camera footage later.
