Keep in mind that the Hawk pads come in a few different compounds/colors depending on your usage.

I would expect that the higher performance models would generate more dust.

I use the yellow pads for my street use.

I swapped to the yellow pads almost a year ago and have almost ZERO dust. Couldnt be happier. The stock pads drove me nuts with it.

When changing to Hawk yellow pads is there anything you have to do to your factory rotors? What about Hawk pads and brake squeal? (My factory pads are squealing like hell)

Not unless they have grooves worn in them. Just make SURE to use the supplied lube on the backs of the pads and MAKE SURE you follow the Hawk break in procedure.

They are VERY easy to change.

Like the guy said with my cross drilled slotted rotors just had to use some sand paper to sand down any grooves and used the lube for the back of the pads. They bite really good being the Hawk 5.0 pads.

I've got 9k on my hawk pads, way less dust but they are starting to squeak when brakes are applied normally. ( not touching the sensors )

Do you have to take the calipers off to change the brakes?

I made a post about the same issue a few months ago!
On my 2SS, the hawks were GREAT!!!
ZL1, I see much more dust for sure! Only a tad less than stock pads. I was thinking of going to EBC.

I just bough the hawk yellow, they're on there way here.
I read about installing them . It says to sand rotors, I assume to get rid of groves from the original pads.
Seems to me any improvement would help, I'm tired of cleaning rims
I'd also like to get rims refinished with something easier to clean.
