Hood Protection
I just bought my 1LE on Tuesday and was wondering if there was a good protectant to help maintain the matte wrap on the hood..
thanks

I have been trying for over a month to find the best one. I use mine as a daily driver. It's a mess. I might end up taking off the wrap
Best so far is meguiars back to black |

What have you tried? There's a ton of threads here and in the detailing section. To make a long story short, most seem to like Adams SVRT or Chemical Guys Meticulous Matte detailer. The former gives a satin finish that matches the spoiler pretty well, the latter keeps the original matte finish. I've used both and found each gives good results with some effort. Specifically, taking out spots from rain, etc.

I recently started a similar thread...#3 post by Firefighter pretty much says it all - I'm going to order Adam's products shortly to care for the hood.

I use McGuire's wash with carnauba wax in it and if spotted, McGuire's detailer to clean the spots. I do not have the same frequency of issues others apparently have.

Tons of threads on this. Search for them. I use Adams VRT. Follow the instructions in their video. Avoid Back to Black.

However, less than a minute later, as it dries, it is pristine. Yep, I use a microfiber as well. |

I use Croftgate Wrap Care, but Adams and Chemical guys is good as well.

I've never let any product touch it. Most vinyl care products will remove the matte finish. The only thing I've ever used to clean it is Windex. I may try Dawn next time I get fingerprints on it. But my go-to solution for every day cleaning is a spray bottle full of water and a microfiber cloth. Six months and it still looks just as good as day one. I originally used the water/microfiber method to remove water spots from the vinyl stripes on a Mustang I rented. It works amazingly well.
