Is the GXP a Grand Prix? If so it has the 5.3 V8, not the Northstar. I had one from 2006-2013 and I traded it in for a 2013 Regal GS. I kinda wish I kept it. I loved the V8. It moved! I had no issues with the transmission though I have heard of many people having issues with them. I guess it all depends on how it was driven. Much like the Monte SS back in the day (80's).

I have lived in Ohio and been driving for 40 years.
I have only owned one 4 wheel drive car and that was to pull jet skis/ boat from water. I drove my Camaro last winter no problems. A few years ago after the Blizzard drove to In-laws. from Cinci Ohio to Galesburg IL, the roads were littered with SUV' wrecks, some were upside down in the medium. I was driving a front wheel drive Olds. had absolutely no problems. I think not all but many have a feeling of invincibility when they have 4 wheel drive. I am just saying don't need an SUV or 4 wheel drive. thanks though for all your input.

I've been thinking the same thing lately. Sometimes it gets pretty snowy here, so I'm seriously considering this 2005 GMC Envoy XUV that I found at a dealership. Its loaded with the 5.3 and 4WD, 99k miles, asking $10.9k. Since my 1998 Durango took a crap, I've looking for something to replace it with before winter gets here. I take a lot of trips to the dump with garbage, so the cargo area is better suited for that than other SUVs, but still get the comfort and stuff of an SUV

Get an HHR. Cheap, slow, full of rattles, ugly, needs regular repair, but lots of cargo room under the hatch.
Total opposite of the camaro. |

Oh yeah, forgot about that one. Some owners actually bought one of those glass prism lenses that they used back in the 50's, if they didnt still have one.

Get a Toyota Camry or Lexus ES300 or similar, those cars go 300k miles easy and can be had for a few thousand dollars. They are good in the snow too.

My winter car is a 1997 cavalier, power steering needs to be topped up every year, other than that its been problem free for the last 20yrs. And if it does break down, just leave it roadside and buy another one, dirt cheap.
