I only use Shell V Power 93oct, it supposedly has the additives in it's blend to keep the fuel system clean...I have not found a need for a octane booster if the car doesn't need it, it could lead to a build up of carbon deposits, possibly clog the injectors or foul the plugs...A easy check is to pull a plug and take a look, should be a light brown color and dry...Anything other than pump in a lightly modded/stock car is a waste of money...

Wrong. It reduces knock retard. therefore your able to take advantage of all the power the motor can make. Especially in the heat. As far as the nonsense about it clogging up anything it doesn't.
Another thing it safeguards is bad gas. Just because Shell says 93 octane it must be 93 octane all the time right?? Because gas stations never lie lol.

I've heard Torco can leave some residue on your o2 sensors, and maybe that in your cats.

Love the smell of it though when it burns off. Have used it in the past on hot Texas track days in bikes and turbo 4 bangers that get crazy high EGT.

I use any of these stations...For pump gas these stations should be the most consistent

You are using too much. It’s not Torco, it is the active ingredient, MMT, Methylcyclopentadienyl manganese tricarbonyl. The metallic additive is what puts the color on the plugs. Lead commonly makes plugs orange/yellow or variations of orange/tan and Manganese makes them look the darker orange/red color of a wet brick, particularly if you use too much.

Octane boosters that contain “MMT” will actually raise the octane number. Methylcyclopentadienyl manganese tricarbonyl (MMT) is what you want to see on the label when you read the fine print.

Never noticed on the car, as I used a modest amount to help with conditions that led to knock. The bike though was full race exhaust and race gas tune so I had to mix 93 + torco to keep it safe if I didn't have the good stuff. A bit of orange in the exhaust for sure.

Definitely read a bit about MMT when I originally researched Torco. MMT was banned for a while, but does bump the octane as advertised.

In my earlier days of playing with cars I experimented a bit with toluene, but I didn't like that it was something I bought from a paint store and dangerous to handle. I get enough liver and kidney damage with my bad habits.

Knock Retard.

Knock sensors detect knock (pre-detonation, ping) and retard engine timing to counter the knock.

Stunnah im sorry your uninformed. I'm also sorry you can't express yourself intelligently without getting angry and cursing if someone doesn't agree with you or expresses a different opinion or presents other facts. Have a great day.

EXACTLY...

Its like putting 93 in a mini van when 87 is only required..You are just pissing money away.

When i built the 383 for my nova, I set the compression to run on 93 pump gas, it made 588hp on straight 93. While it was on the dyno, we threw in 110 octane race fuel and added timing,tuning..etc.. it made no difference in power... since it didnt need the extra octane to prevent detonation, it wont make any more power...

With that being said...throwing a few gallons of 110 in the tank on race day is just cheap insurance in case something happens...Just like throwing some torco in a ZL1 just for some cheap insurance of crappy gas...But thats what the knock retard is designed for

After you run it awhile, take your plugs out and have a look. Chalky orange almost like a fine grit. I've also heard its hard on valve guides. If you race all the time, use it. I personally would not use it for a daily driver. Better listen to JDP Motor Sports, they know what they're talking about. My two cents!

One thing Torco does do is turn everything orange. I personally have stopped using Torco.
