Check the Audio section. You'll get better responses there. Most are replacing the factory amp first before upgrading the speakers.

Factory speakers are actually "decent". Amp them and you'll be pretty happy with them. I was anyway...

I did a jl 900/5 amp and added all new speakers and a sub. If you don't want to do a sub id get jl 400/4 amp and get rid of BA amp.

I went with Alpine PDX-F4 for the 4 channel. It's digital and can be mounted in the factory amp location. It's 400w RMS.
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00...?ie=UTF8&psc=1 I'm running a Kicker Sub amp driving a JBL W12GTI-MKII (http://www.amazon.com/JBL-W12GTI-MKI.../dp/B000KQM4C6) Sounds great.

Details sound system
Well A couple years ago I spent about 2.5K and got I think a pretty killer set up. The STOCK head unit was retained. The rest of the system consists of speaker components from MEMPHIS AUDIO, The BA speakers were replaced with 6.5 inch speakers with separate tweeters (memphis sq 6.5 15-MCC6) in the front.
The back BA speakers were replaced with 6 inch Memphis Audio (msycn6 15-MC$6). The FACTORY BA amp was replaced by a PHOENIX GOLD 800.5 5 channel amp. This AMP was chosen because it can basically fit in stock location with sub thump harness, A driver side bass speaker enclosure was installed (SUB THUMP) A 12 inch Memphis Audio BASS speaker was installed MEMPHIS MC12 15-MCP 12D4. There was a BASS control knob installed in the console. In addition of course sound deadener was added. This was all installed by EXPERT CAR AUDIO in grand prairie texas 972-988-1772 should you need any more details. My car makes over 100DB and I can hear this system easily over that, Greg
