its a great drive to Northern Michigan... from any location in the state.

I will also have a bbq pit, brewery system, homemade cordials, a 4 post hoist for some under car cleaning, pretty much unlimited parking, 200 ft from the lake, numerous boats at our disposal, a spirited 20 mile drive into Traverse City that would make for a great cruise!

I say we start the planning the weekend.

well.. the front door sticking... cant blame them for that... the change in temperature, the expanding and contracting... really takes a toll

plus summer is only 5 weeks long.. so we have to have all the toys and really take advantage of the outdoors when we can.

Dude. I LOVE exposed rafters and beams. Lots of wood and overhead is my dream. I may never have it but can't wait to see what you end up with.
Lots of wood is your dream Randy?

shouldn't be too hard to give you plenty of overhead. hell, a standard 8ft ceiling should be enough for you.

its porbably too late for this... well, maybe.

but something you might look into for the extra "wow" factor and for storage...

Yes.. I thought that too... Randy dreams of lots of wood.

How much would you do it for? Its pretty high up there... $70 a sq... cash....( if you know what you are doing) you pay travel, I got your room and board.

come on up for the Michigan get together.... we will kick it "up norf" style.

WOW.. that is amazing. Let me google that a bit more... we have not poured concrete yet... so technically I guess i could... got to check costs and requirements... I am sure it needs a concrete box, unless that steel container could just be dropped in a hole. hahaha... wonder about moisture...

I don't even know what an average cost would be to do it. Granted, I know what I'm doing (dad owns a lumber company and used to work construction back in the day). I've poured many a foundation in my time.
the trick would be convincing my wife to let me go do it...lol
you should just move down here and we'll start over.

again... gotta convince the wifey.

IIRC, you dont "have" to have a full box, but most of the ones I've seen have just built the box with cinder blocks and had them filled with concrete as they went (literally filled the interiors of the blocks with concrete for extra moisture barrier/temp issues). I've seen some installations that were put into existing garages and some that are built into driveways with "underground garages"

If I had the money...

then again... I did manage to find the blueprints for one of those systems. its mostly just channel tubing, hydraulic pump/actuator, and the ramp, plus the overhead portion. just need to beef it up based on the weight of the car.

hell, you could probably build one yourself depending on the weight of a vehicle you wanted to put in their using parts from an oversized scissor lift

HMMMM!!! I have a guy up here who is a Master Fabricator... I think that could definitely be a fun project. Depending on how much it costs.

Did you see the Price of one of these? I spent 7 min googling... no luck. thats my max.

if you buy it from them, no doubt it will be hella expensive, but if you've got a friend who wants to play with a welder... could be fun.

ooooooooooorrrr... something I just thought about too,

I know you are putting in a lift at one point. have you thought about putting an under car tunnel in the garage (like at most shops? with metal grating overhead so the car cant fall into the channel, but you dont have to mess with the lift to get underneath it.

just another thought.
