Here is the thing: If GM ignored the potential that this could end up hurting someone, and then someone got hurt, the world would be crying out, "Shame on GM for not doing a recall!" You know, they're damned if they do and damned if they don't. Give them some credit for having business sense.

That said, I won't be having mine changed out,.. but that is my option.

At one time my 2012 wouldn't start with the key :(
After a few tries it worked.
This was during the first year of ownership - since then no troubles starting the car.
I'm a tall guy, but I don't ever hit the key fob with my knee :(

For my key there is nothing else on the fob, on the backup key there is a light weight wrist band.

So no reason for me to do the recall.

Some people skydive, some wrestle alligators, some bungi jump.....but no, all this stuff is too tame for you...1800 miles with the death key......that's just insane.

I did 2,500 miles over the 4th of July weekend with the death key and survived.
