Reduced Engine Power, Throttle Body

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Sorry if this is repeated but has anyone had their vehicle loose engine power, had the stability system disabled, traction control disabled, the check engine light came on, and is was misfiring very badly?

I was barely able to "limp" into a dealership that is not my normal dealer. They have indicated that it is the throttle body assembly. The vehicle has only 46,000 miles and is 100% OEM. Does it sound reasonable for this to be the issue?

Also, they indicated that this is not covered under the power train warranty. Can anyone confirm?

Driving: 2010 LT2 RS. Also have had timing chain issues already. Beginning to think I got a "lemon."

Thanks for the help.

hey

Hey mate, your not alone ive had the same issues you talked about except mine was not that bad of a misfire, i was able to drive for about 20 minutes or so and then it would go into "reduced engine power" I took it to autozone and scanned the car and i did see misfire on few cylinders

Dealership apparently also claimed it was probably throttle body issue. but all they did was clear codes and wanted me to drive it again.

Its been semi okay.. i got the reduced engine power 2 days after i got my car without the check engine light coming on, so this time i bought the wifi obd2 scanner and bought the application on my iphone.. code read for "Throttle body position Sesnsor..blabla" but went off soon as i turned off car and turned it back on.. I have not had an issue since then.. it has been 2 days.

Also anyhelp would be appreciated./

Oh BTW - Hope you have the extended warranty. I do not and it is going to cost $700 from the dealer.

I would be really happy with $300-$400 instead of the $700 the dealer has quoted me. Maybe someone has more insight?

hopefully someone does respond soon!.
And hopefully the dealership is not charging you to install the part.. as it only takes about 10 minutes or less to remove and install and involves 4 screwes...

perhaps they charged you for diagnostic, which in this case sux =\

That is frustrating if I could have just cleared the code and don't need to spend the $700. And from what it sounds like, the dealer may be taking me for a ride at $700.

Sounds like the same issue i had with my 2011 1lt but it was two frozen injectors. The fuel system isnt supposed to be covered under the powertrain waranty but my dealership fixed it under waranty anyway

You can get a brand new CNC ported TB for $150 plus the core, if that's the problem.

I had this issue on another muscle car. It was the throttle body. Ford charged $600 to fix it but had the same problem a week later. I ended up replacing the throttle body on my own for $300.. Worked perfect after that.

Ebay! Your choice what to do..

I even went to an oil change shop and they also said it was the throttle body. Sometimes I could get far and then it'd just sputter.. I was not happy.
