I sent them an email but haven’t heard back yet. I would definitely be more interested in getting titanium. How much are those going for? Maybe we could setup a group buy if a lot of people are interested??

Got a reply back from Unobtanium Welding. The titanium ones aren’t that much more than the aluminum. I’m going that route for sure

Nice! I’d get a set too...

Group buy?

I did send them a pm here too, waiting on reply...

Great and fair price it looks like for the aluminum ones.. I would think the titanium ones would be a bit lighter but possibly double the price. Titanium large stock tubing ain't cheap. Curious the cost on titanium ones before I pull the trigger on the aluminum ones.

Don't know, but they are very responsive on FaceBook. I sent them the link to this thread...

Tubing is grade 9:

https://continentalsteel.com/titanium/grades/grade-9/

and the plates are grade 5 in case anyone wants to know...

I'm looking to get a set for mine -- have to do a bit of 'setup' for my coolers and tow hook, but looks to be very doable...

LOL I am. Steel is about twice the modulus of titanium of the same crossection. Those towel rack sized bars have what appears to be a fraction of the crossection of the OEM beam. If the crossection is say 1/3 of the original, divide that in half for the loss of modulus. So 1/6 the stiffness. How about frame torsion? Anyone know the role the cross beam plays? What role does the heavy wide steel beam play in preventing the frame rails from being spears in a door side impact of another car and breaching their protective zone, or skewering an occupant? Any test data? Any engineering analysis? On a strip/track only car, knock yourself out. But don’t kid yourself you aren’t messing with safety design here on a street vehicle.

In today’s litigation heavy environment, you can count on being sued for hurting someone with your car if you were at fault for the collision. You might be liable for injuries even it the collision wasn’t your fault, if you defeated a crash protective design. You might also face criminal negligence charges if someone is seriously injured or killed due to a mod that can be shown to have defeated protection.

Ok, return to the regular knuckle knocking. Sorry I had respond to the question.

The titanium crash bars from Unobtainium welding are $895 usd shipped. I just ordered some. I think it’s worth it to pay a little more for the titanium over the aluminum. Save more weight, still lighter than the OEM piece, and stronger than the aluminum. Plus, it’s corrosion resistant as well.

Started at stock weight of 3860 and currently at 3508. Still have stuff to drop weight off of with a goal of 3100. Then I'll bolt on some forced induction and eat the hell cats for snack.. bahahaha!

Wow that's actually a really nice price. Can't wait to see yours.

That’s what I thought! My cousin even asked me if they were 1,000+ for them, but when I told him the price he was surprised. Lol definitely worth the extra money over the aluminum. I’ll be sure to post pics when I get them and also when I install them!
