Probably not going to lower the actual MSRP, but it may cause Chevy to throw in some incentives. Low interest or cash back, which would make it cheaper in the long run and probably bring some sales in. To my knowledge there hasn't ever been an incentive of any kind on this car because it sells so well without them. Excluding incentives meant for the whole line-up of Chevy cars, I got $1000 back on mine because my sister has a Saturn Thanks sis!

My dealer has 75% v6 on the lot since January or so if that tells you anything. In 2010 it was the other way around, about 60/40 v8

yeah!..the 8's a lot more money,AND people are discovering the 6 has plenty of "balls" gets better gas mileage,and is easier to insure!..just my take!

In this case I am going to go with the simplest answer, this same time last year the Mustang had a spike in sales.

The reason this happened during the same time last year was because the 2011s were hitting the streets so they had massive discounts on the 2010s. I am willing to bet that its the $3,000+ cash on the hoods of the 2011s that gave them a boost.

The idea that consumers are just discovering the Mustang which is possible, maybe more people have driven them. Maybe they enjoyed it enough to go out and buy them however the data that we have currently doesn't support that. So until I see data that supports that I am just going to stick with the data that I do have which says bigger discounts on 2011 model to make room for the 2012.

No here comes the reason:
As rising fuel prices have driven up demand for the V-6 engine, Ling said Ford has chosen to apportion more supply to the F-150, among its most profitable models. The V-6 Mustang starts at a list price of $22,310, according to Ford.com.

"The V-6 powertrain that's shared with all of our hot products is really very popular right now," Jim Farley, Ford's global marketing chief, said in a June 9 interview. "We have a lower days' supply on Mustang, but we think that's the right way to run that business."

The V-6 engine shortage has left Ford with less than 30 days' supply of Mustangs, half the inventory it had a year ago, Ling said. Ford is now looking for ways to boost production of the V-6, which accounts for 51 percent of Mustang sales, up from 40 percent a year ago, Ling said.

"We're making sure that the truck has enough engines and obviously there is an impact to Mustang," Ling said. "The dealers feel we could sell more" if Ford had more V-6 engines.

Anyway, it was said in the past month or so here that there was a supply problem with the Mustang, but it fell on deaf ears.

Take a look at the Chevy and Ford lots in your area and count the number of new Camaros and Mustangs available. I think it will be obvious who has a larger supply of cars sitting unsold.

I am very skeptical of this and the actual impact on sales of the Mustang, I don't doubt that the shortage of V-6 Mustangs has negatively impacted its sales.

However to completely ignore the incentives is equal to putting blinders on a horse so that it can only see in one direction. I know that Ford fans don't know any better they are willing to believe any BS that Ford feeds them (Most GM fans don't trust GM).

So I am still going to have to go with added incentives to move metal, though a 30 day supply on the V-6 Mustang is less then ideal (60 days). I am willing to bet that it hasn't negatively impacted Mustang sales as much as Ford would like people to believe. Also if true and the Mustang V-6 was at a 30 days supply while the Mustang model was at a 105 days supply then that would have put V-8 Mustangs at something like a 130 day supply.

I think it has to do with Fiat funding or something. Sadly, I really can't see another generation on the Challenger, which is too bad. Chrysler has a lot of work to do they really are five to ten years behind Ford and GM. I still have my fingers crossed for a new Viper, but I'm not holding my breath.

Didn't somebody come up with a stat that the Mustang had one of the largest amounts of time in inventory of any vehicle or something like that? I think it was in another thread.
