RxDoc reading through the thread the material the plug is made from sounds like a winner for your end cap. It is the EPDM material that is essential so that the cap doesnt disintegrate from the interaction with the brake fluid.

Bumping this to the top once again for ZL1 owners; good idea or no?

Looking on Ebay, there are a lot of types to choose from, not just the GTO

Side exit is needed to keep the hose up hill all the way to the reservoir. This is needed to prevent air bubbles being trapped. Bigger is better IMO and saves head aches of bleeding dry if using the best method..... a clutch bleeder line.

I have GTO reservoirs and i have enough caps to cap every brake reservoir on the forum.

Caps come free with every reservoir and every clutch master cylinder I sell.

If you need one let me know.

Just my opinion but the GM GTO ( Holden ) reservoir is the way to go. No one has the R&D money GM has to develop this piece. It works on the GTO and I hazard to say there are over a thousand of us running them on the Camaro. And yes, every manual shift gen 5 Camaro should have had a remote clutch reservoir ( like the Corvette and GTO have from the factory ). The idea of getting clutch dust into the brake hydraulic system which is what happens with a shared ( 5th gen Camaro ) brake/clutch hydraulic reservoir system is just absurd. Plus the difficulty of flushing/bleeding the clutch hydraulic system is magnified when the brakes and clutch share the same reservoir. I can tell you the GM engineers who looked at my separate/remote clutch reservoir setup at the 3rd C5 fest at Indy this past August were both impressed as well as admitted the addition of the separate clutch reservoir makes good "real world" sense.

Hello,
I stumbled across this thread completely by accident (was looking for pictures do the brake reserivoir as I'm replacing the stock brakes on my 2LT with the SS Brembos).

I really want to do this when I do the brake and master cylinder swap.

Does anyone still sell the kit I've heard mentioned like what 2010CAMAROJ posted about on page 16 that has the plugs, bracket, and reservoir? Please let me know.

Thank you,
Greg

Don't get me wrong, GTO one is great. I spoke with Al Oppenheiser at length at SEMA in 2009 and I thought he realized it was a poor choice to not have a separate reservoir. Kinda surprized they didn't start including them. I had the GTO reservior early on, just found doing a real bleed became a PITA for me.....constantly watching the fluid level to not run dry and smaller target to fill, plus sometimes leaked a little. Post #538 of this thread shows the Kawasaki one I replaced it with.

Bleeding worries

It's Simple.
when you want to flush or bleed your fluid it's easy. you should be keeping your brake fluid clean too not just your clutch fluid. so when it comes time to flush your clutch fluid do your brake fluid as well.

Drain your brake fluid reservoir first using a small hose like clear fish tank air hose. The small hose will fit down into the bottom of the brake reservoir and suck it completely dry. Then you fill the brake reservoir with new clean fluid. Now you can take your supply hose off your GTO clutch reservoir and install it back onto the brake reservoir where it orginally was and flush your clutch system with clean fluid using the big brake reservoir.
after your done put the hose back onto the GTO reservoir and fill it with clean fluid.

It's simple guys. I do this all the time it's very easy. I do this to all the camaros that come in my shop for master cylinders.

I was considering this off Ebay since the GTO Reservoir is a bit pedestrian...

It holds about 100ml (twice as much as the GTO),

but I may go with the GTO Res. just for piece of mind.

I like that one, it's got a nice mounting hole on the bottom so you can make a nice sleek and neat bracket for it.
